摘要： A vending machine is provided for packaging a plurality of articles into a unitary package. This vending machine includes a packaging area and a packer. The packer affixes a carrier to the discrete articles in the packaging area to form the package. The formed package is then discharged from the vending machine. The present vending machine therefore provides for forming a plurality of articles into a package within a single vending machine. A consumer can select what articles, such as different brands of beverage containers, which are combined to form the package. Also, the number of articles for each package can be selected by the consumer.

摘要： A carton activating mechanism (26) for opening the gatefold seats of a paperboard carton blank (13) is disclosed. A rotatable disc (30) carries a spaced series of activators (34), each of which includes a plate (35) having a pair of pivotally-connected fingers (37). The plate is reciprocably mounted on the disc by a pin (36) received in a groove (32) defined on a stationary plate (31) positioned with respect to the disc. Each of the fingers has a projection (40) and a cooperating abutment (41 ) so that the respective fingers are moved outwardly into an extended position, and then spread apart into an open position to fold the gatefold seats of the carton blank before closing and being retracted from the gatefold seats of the carton blank.

摘要： A carton flap folding assembly (10) and a method of folding carton flaps is disclosed. The carton flap folding assembly includes a modular housing (12) positioned on the framework (22) of a packaging machine, and along the path of travel of articles of product moved along the packaging machine. The carton flap folding assembly includes a drive gear (26) which moves a drive pulley (28) and a star wheel assembly (29) in a timed relationship with respect to one another and with the groups of articles of product conveyed along a path of travel past the assembly. A spaced series of generally protruding lugs (33) are formed along the length of an endless lug belt (32), and a top star wheel disc (84) and a spaced bottom star wheel disc (85), each having a spaced series of generally protruding teeth (86) formed thereon are also provided as a part of the carton blank flap folding assembly. The teeth of the star wheel discs are moved into the prescored flap areas of a carton blank to break the flaps open, whereupon lugs from the lug belt are moved into the carton blank through the prescored flap areas, moving the flaps thereof into tangential engagement with the exterior surface of the bottles within the group of bottles, the side wall of the carton blank being simultaneously moved toward the bottles by a top guide (90) and a bottom guide (91).

摘要： A process and an apparatus for packaging containers in a carrier in two rows, in which a first half carrier is formed from a first blank by bringing a bottom portion into a horizontal position, placing a first longitudinal wall portion perpendicularly thereto, folding two side wall portions and partition flaps cut from the first longitudinal wall portion into a position perpendicular to the first longitudinal wall portion, inserting containers between the side wall portions and the flaps and bringing a second longitudinal wall portion into a position parallel to the first longitudinal wall portion and connecting it with the side wall portions, after which, in a similar manner, a second half carrier with containers is formed from an identical blank and both half carriers are composed by connecting two corresponding longitudinal wall portions to form a carrier with two rows of containers. The blanks can be made with a minimum of waste material.

摘要： A bottle bagger (10) for bagging a plurality of bottles (12) in a plastic bag (14) comprises an upstream part (16), a downstream part (18), a table assembly (20), a pusher assembly (22), a sealing assembly (24) and a bag holder assembly (25). In operation, the bag (14) is first placed on the bag holder assembly (25) with the open end of the bag facing the upstream part (18) of the bagger (10). Bottles (12) are fed seriatim by a conveyor (44) onto an infeed table (26) of the table assembly (20) and are thereafter pushed downstream into the plastic bag (14) and onto an outfeed table (76) of the table assembly (20) by a pusher paddle (132) of the pusher assembly (22). Subsequently, the bag (14) is sealed and excess plastic from the bag is severed upstream of the seal by upper and lower sealing jaws (198, 192) of the sealing assembly (24). The bagged bottles (14) are then ready for storage or shipment.
