Abstract:
Current control circuitry for controlling current supplied from a source, that may be a current-constrained source, to a load and a battery. A current limit control circuit limits current supplied by the source to the load in accord with a programmed current limit. Load current is measured, and an input charger control circuit controls magnitude of current to the battery based on the difference between measured load current and battery current programmed to be supplied to the battery, such that the sum of load current and battery current is maintained within the programmed current limit.
Abstract:
A stringed musical instrument has a body coupled to a single neck, multiple registers of strings, and a bridge that provides for at least one of acoustic and electronic separation of the multiple registers. The strings are preferrably arranged in paired courses, each of which has two members tuned to vibrate sympathetically with one another. In at least one of the members of each pair is a metallic string, and the other is a nylon or other non-metallic string. Preferred examples include a guitar, and more preferably an acoustic 12-string guitar. The bridge preferably has interleaved saddles for the various strings, each of which has its own associated pickup. The sounding board is reinforced with transverse brace struts. Optional equipment includes a balancing circuit that can be used to balance outputs of the vibration sensors.
Abstract:
Therefore broadly in accordance with the invention there is provided a sheet like substrate comprising a substantially non-polar material having coated onto at least one side thereon an anchor coating to aid subsequent coating thereon of a polar coating and/or layer, characterised in that the anchor coating comprises (a) a polymer comprising an optionally substituted α, β carboxylic acid optionally of high acid value preferably the polymer having a low Tg; (b) a polymer comprising an optionally unsubstituted α, β carboxylic acid optionally of low acid value preferably the polymer having a high Tg; (c) a cross-linker, preferably added after a period of time to a mixture of polymers (a) and (b) to cross-link the resultant coating composition and increase the Tg thereof. Preferably films of the invention provide directly on the anchor coating; a further polar coating or layer. Preferably (a) is a low acid imminated acrylic polymer (such as that available from Avecia under the trade name XK90); (b) is an alkyl methacrylate polymer of low acid functionally such as that available commercially from Avecia under the trade name Ucrecyl H; and (c) is an arizidine cross-linker such as the trimethyloltris(N(methylaziridinyl))propionate available from Avecia under the trade name CX100).
Abstract:
A system and methods for copying, deleting, replacing, and moving content in group-editable web pages is disclosed. The system includes a server and devices, such as computers, which can communicate via a network. Users at the computers can access group-editable web pages from the server and request that content operations be performed involving content in a first page and optionally one or more second pages. The server obtains content operation details needed to perform the content operation by finding content operation implementation information in the first page itself and/or in another page.
Abstract:
Described is a new class of polypeptide cell modulators characterized by being composed of two covalently linked cell modulators in a linear polypeptide sequence. Such dual function polypeptides have new and particularly useful activities when the component polypeptide cell modulators are interferons, lymphokines or cytotoxins which act through different and specific cell receptors to initiate complementary biological activities. Also described is a peptide linker segment comprising a mouse IgG gamma 2b “hinge” in which the four cysteines of the “hinge” have been converted to serines.
Abstract:
An adjustable optical device including an optical element, a housing having an adjusting post fixed thereto, the optical element mounted to the housing, the housing adjusting post having a plane of movement, and an adjustment mechanism, the housing flexibly connected to the adjustment mechanism, the adjustment mechanism comprising a moving adjusting member in sliding engagement with the housing adjusting post, one of the adjusting member and the housing adjusting post comprising a wedge. The housing adjusting post is urged into movement in its plane of movement in response to relative movement between the adjusting member and the adjusting post, whereby the orientation of the optical element relative to the adjusting mechanism is adjusted by movement of the moving adjusting member.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the catalyst (III) and intermediates for its preparation in which M is a transition metal ion; A is a counter-ion if required; B, B′, and E and E′ are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen aryl, C1-6alkyl, silyl or aryl-C1-6 alkyl in which any aryl or alkyl moiety is optionally substituted or B′ and B or E′ and E together form a C2-6 polymethylene link; with the proviso that only one of the carbons marked with an asterisk if a chiral center; R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9 and R10 are independently hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy
Abstract:
A needle point protection sheath comprises a protector tube having a bore for receiving a hollow needle plus a needle hub within the bore. The protector tube has a closure cap at one end thereof and has a retention member at the other end to engage an end of the hub, to prevent the hub from passing out of the other tube end. The cap may carry a sleeve having a needle-pierceable wall at its inner end, or a mass of resilient material which is capable of being penetrated by the needle as the cap is closed, to seal the needle tip and thus prevent the spilling of blood residue when a blood collection needle is being enclosed for protection.
Abstract:
A number of charging regions and associated special charging rates are defined for a cellular telephone subscribers. The available charging regions are selectively assembled by subscribers to define charging areas within which that subscriber is entitled to special rates for cellular calls. When a subscriber is engaged in a cellular call and is located with the subscriber's charging area, the subscriber is charged the special charging rate granted to the charging region within which the subscriber is located. Otherwise, the subscriber is charged at conventional cellular charging rates. In instances where the subscriber is not given the special rate, or otherwise is to be charged at more than the lowest available rate, the system notifies the participating subscriber that the call is not subject to the special rate and gives the subscriber an opportunity to terminate without being charged.
Abstract:
A mounting plate is disclosed that is adapted to be positioned between a main flow line and at least two differential pressure transmitters, to place the two differential pressure transmitters in fluid communication with a pair of pipeline taps on opposite sides of a flow reducing orifice plate in the main flow line is disclose. The mounting plate includes a plate-like body generally rectangular in cross section along its longitudinal axis and longer than it is wide along its transverse axis. The plate-like body includes a pair of ports that extend through the body and are in fluid communication with the pair of pressure taps with the longitudinal axis of the body parallel to the main flow line. A plurality of passageways or bores extend into the body to connect the ports to various combinations of pressure transmitters. One or more mounting holes for the transmitters are on a line that intersects the longitudinal axis of the body at an angle to allow some of the passageways or bores to be drilled straight and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body between the mounting holes.
