Abstract: Systems and methods for replicating data from storage. Snapshots are taken on a consistency group of volumes and are stored in snapshot volumes. Changes to the data stored in the volumes are identified from the snapshots and the changes are written to a journal. The journal allows the changes to be replicated to a virtual replication system and a physical replication system. The journal can be replicated to different systems, including physical and virtual systems, by exposing the same journal in different manners.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises at least one processing device that is configured to control delivery of input-output operations from a host device to a storage system over selected ones of a plurality of paths through a network. The at least one processing device is further configured to generate a plurality of authentication tokens over time utilizing seed information of the host device, and for each of one or more of the input-output operations, to incorporate a particular one of the authentication tokens into the input-output operation, to send the input-output operation to the storage system, and to receive an indication from the storage system, responsive to the input-output operation sent to the storage system, as to whether or not the authentication token incorporated into the input-output operation matches a corresponding authentication token generated by the storage system. The at least one processing device illustratively comprises at least a portion of the host device.

Abstract: In one example, a method involves performing an initial discovery process that includes querying a storage array, and identifying, based on the query, one or more hosts that are registered with the storage array. This initial discovery process is performed automatically without requiring user action to identify the one or more hosts. The method additionally includes presenting a list of discovered hosts, receiving a selection input from a user specifying one or more of the hosts in the list, retrieving, from the storage array, information associated with each of the respective hosts, and making the information available to a user.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to traffic class management of NVMe (non-volatile memory express) traffic. One or more input/output (I/O) operations are received at a device interface coupled to one or more storage devices of a storage array. A service level (SL) corresponding to each of the one or more I/O operations is determined. Each of the one or more I/O operations is transmitted to the one or storage devices over a virtual channel of a set of virtual channels based on the determined SL corresponding to each of the one or more I/O operations.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises at least one processing device that is configured to send write requests to a first storage system. The first storage system is configured to participate in a replication process in which data associated with the write requests is replicated from the first storage system to a second storage system that is separate from the first storage system. The at least one processing device is further configured to receive from the first storage system an indication of a write pressure condition arising in the second storage system and relating to replication of the data associated with the write requests from the first storage system to the second storage system, and to at least temporarily limit a manner in which additional write requests are sent to the first storage system responsive to the received indication of the write pressure condition arising in the second storage system.

Abstract: A host system may include a computational processing unit implemented using hardware and a hardware virtualizing and remote sharing (HVRS) server that virtualizes and shares the computational processing unit with other host systems, where the host system is directly connected to an internal fabric of a storage system. A storage system interface (SSI) of the host system may be directly connected to the internal fabric of the storage system and also directly connected to a same peripheral device interconnect as the CPU, the computational processing unit and/or other hardware resources of the host system. The SSI may communicate with storage resources of the storage system using remote direct memory access (RDMA) and zero-copy technologies. Such a host system may provide the storage capacity and data protection services of a storage system at relatively fast speeds e.g., comparable to non-volatile RAM on a host system configured for use as persistent memory.

Abstract: In response to receiving a read metadata request from the host system for a data portion, the storage system may determine a status and location of the data portion, including determining whether the data portion is in a cache of the storage system. If the data portion is in the cache, the storage system may send a response that includes the data portion itself along with the status and location of the data portion. If the data portion is not in the cache, the storage system may send a response to the read metadata request that includes the status and location of the data portion, but not the data portion itself. The host system may be configured to determine whether the data portion has been returned with the metadata response, and if so, refrain from sending a separate data request, for example, to retrieve the data portion from cache.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to traffic class management of NVMe (non-volatile memory express) traffic. One or more virtual controllers for at least one host adapter (HA) of a storage device are generated. Each virtual controller is assigned a unique controller identifier (ID) Additionally, one or more input/output (IO) queues for each virtual controller are established. Further, IO workloads are processed via each IO queue.
