摘要: An adjustable bent housing for controlled directional drilling of well holes. The bend angle of the housing can be conveniently adjusted upon release of the locking nut which is threadably mounted to the motor casing. The locking nut engages an adjusting ring having splines to lockingly engage both the motor casing and the adjustment sub. The adjustment sub and motor casing are lockingly engaged against axial displacement by threads and a plurality of locking balls. An end portion of the outer surface of the motor casing and an end portion of the inner surface of the sub have an angle offset from the central axis to allow angle adjustment. The adjusting ring and locking nut are mounted to the coaxial portions of the components to simplify machining and ensure a clean locking engagement. Adjustment of the bend angle is accomplished by loosening the locking nut to disengage the adjusting ring and allow rotation of the motor casing relative to the universal housing sub.

摘要: A geothermal wellhead repair unit including a mechanically set packer to isolate the wellhead for removal and repair thereof. The packer is run into the well string using a running tool. The packer is set by placing tension on the mandrel to set the packing elements and the slip assembly. Once the packer is set, the running tool can be disengaged without gear of collapsing the packer and the wellhead removed for repair or replacement. Upon replacement of the wellhead, the running tool can be used to unset and retrieve the packer.

摘要: A mud saver valve for insertion within the drill string to retain mud in the drill pipe and prevent the mud column from flowing past the valve when pumping is interrupted. The valve body has a tubular body and a piston having an axial passage for the flow of drilling mud. This piston is biased within the body by a spring and axially movable in response to the mud flow. A check valve plug is disposed within the bore which may be removed to run wireline tools. The plug is seated within a reduced diameter portion of the body and includes a replaceable inner sleeve which engages the piston to prevent flow through the valve. The inner sleeve is replaced as it becomes worn due to the erosive forces of the drilling mud.

摘要: A well cutting tool for cutting casing in a well bore having a cutter body and at least one cutting arm pivotally mounted in a longitudinally extending slot of the cutter body. The cutting arm has removable and replaceable cutting inserts positioned along its outer front surface and its lower end surface. A removable and replaceable projection on the upper end of the cutter arm is provided for contact by a fluid pressure actuated piston for outward pivoting of the cutter arm into cutting position.

The cylinders are linked in pairs so that retraction of both piston rods reduces the length of the pair of assemblies to the length of a single assembly. Operation of both pistons in a pair provides an effective stroke twice the length of a single assembly stroke. In a particular embodiment, a double cylinder system is used as a pickup system for elevating equipment along a mast in a well workover rig.
