Abstract: A three-dimensional data encoding method of encoding three-dimensional points each having an attribute information item includes: classifying each of the three-dimensional points into any of layers including a first layer and a second layer; and arithmetic-encoding an attribute information item of a current three-dimensional point among the three-dimensional points with reference to a first encoding table when the current three-dimensional point is at the first layer, and with reference to a second encoding table not dependent on the first encoding table when the current three-dimensional point is at the second layer.

Abstract: A three-dimensional data encoding method includes: assigning three-dimensional points to one of layers, based on items of geometry information of the three-dimensional points; searching three-dimensional points surrounding a current three-dimensional point to be encoded, to select, from the three-dimensional points, a three-dimensional point to be referred to when a predicted value of attribute information of the current three-dimensional point is calculated, the current three-dimensional point belonging to a first layer among the layers; and calculating the predicted value of the attribute information of the current three-dimensional point using the three-dimensional point selected. In the searching of the three-dimensional points, a search range for a same layer as the current three-dimensional point is different from a search range for a layer higher than the first layer.

Abstract: A three-dimensional data encoding method includes: calculating coefficient values from pieces of attribute information of three-dimensional points included in point cloud data; quantizing the coefficient values to generate quantization values; and generating a bitstream including the quantization values. The three-dimensional points corresponding to the coefficient values belong to one layer among one or more layers. Each of a predetermined number of layers among the one or more layers is assigned a quantization parameter for the layer. In the quantizing, (i) when a quantization parameter is assigned to a layer to which each of the coefficient values belongs, the coefficient value is quantized using the quantization parameter, and (ii) when the quantization parameter is not assigned to a layer to which each of the coefficient values belongs, the coefficient value is quantized using a quantization parameter assigned to one layer among the predetermined number of the layers.
