Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for querying over an external table are disclosed. A method includes connecting a database platform to an external table such that the database platform has read access for the external table and does not have write access for the external table. The method includes receiving a query comprising a predicate, the query directed at least to data in the external table. The method includes determining, based on metadata, one or more partitions in the external table comprising data satisfying the predicate. The method includes pruning, based on the metadata, all partitions in the external table that do not comprise any data satisfying the predicate. The method includes generating a query plan comprising a plurality of discrete subtasks. The method includes assigning, based on the metadata, the plurality of discrete subtasks to one or more nodes in an execution platform.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a region-specific events account that is used as a central place to store the events shared by consumers of shared applications in that region. For each of a set of provider accounts in a first region, a global account object corresponding to the provider account is replicated to a second region to establish a replicated global account object in the second region. An account data persistence object (DPO) of a first provider account of the set of provider accounts is modified to designate the first provider account as an events account. The events account is a central location within the second region where execution information generated by execution of applications shared with consumer accounts in the second region is stored. The replicated global account object corresponding to the first provider account is updated to designate the first provider account as the events account.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques for improving transfer of metadata from a metadata database to a database stored in a data system, such as a data warehouse. The metadata may be written into the metadata database with a version stamp, which is monotonic increasing register value, and a partition identifier, which can be generated using attribute values of the metadata. A plurality of readers can scan the metadata database based on version stamp and partition identifier values to export the metadata to a cloud storage location. From the cloud storage location, the exported data can be auto ingested into the database, which includes a journal and snapshot table.

Abstract: A method includes generating at a source account of a database system user, a replication group object (RGO). The RGO includes a manifest identifying one or more data object types and one or more databases. A replication of data objects of the one or more data object types is performed from the one or more databases to a target account of the database system user. The replication of the data objects is performed as a unit. The RGO is replicated as a failover group object (FGO) within the target account of the database system user. A network failure is detected at the source account of the database system user. The target account of the database system user is promoted as a new source account based on the detecting of the network failure.

Abstract: A method of implementing object tagging framework starts with the processor receiving a tag creation command including a tag name. In response to the tag creation command, the processor creates a current tag. The processor then receives an association command, the tag name and a source object identifier. The processor determines a source object associated with the source object identifier. The source object includes a tag value. The processor associates the current tag with the source object. The processor receives a replication command including the source object and a target object. The processor causes replication of the source object to the target object that comprises replicating the current tag with the tag name and the tag value in the source object to the target object. Other embodiments are also described herein.

Abstract: Techniques for configuring an asynchronous task queue are disclosed. An example method includes enqueuing, by at least one hardware processor of a first computing node, a task in a task queue. The at least one hardware processor detects a lease request for the task. The lease request is received from a second computing node. The at least one hardware processor initiates a lease of the task to the second computing node. The at least one hardware processor updates a state of the task based on the lease. The at least one hardware processor determines whether to dequeue the task based on a task processing update received from the second computing node.
