Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method includes electronically detecting a gesture of a user listening to a speaker via a communication device, and generating an audible and/or visual response that corresponds to the gesture. The audible and/or visual response is then communicated to the speaker. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving destination information comprising a desired destination and receiving regional signal quality information comprising signal quality information associated with one or more regions of an area. The method also includes determining a first route to the desired destination based on the regional signal quality information.
Abstract:
A method for grouping voice messages includes extracting a voice signature from a voice message and tagging the voice message with an identification associated with the voice signature. The method also includes grouping the voice message based on the identification.
Abstract:
A method and system for tracing and logging for a software module is provided. The method includes the steps of detecting at least one error and analyzing at least one error message corresponding to each detected error. The method further includes the step of monitoring the resources of a computer system. Further, the method includes the step of adjusting (e.g., automatically adjusting) a tracing and logging level, based on the analysis of the error messages and the availability of resources.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for inserting an included message into an e-mail message, wherein the e-mail message is transferred through a unified messaging solution have been provided. In one embodiment, the unified messaging solution detects transmission of a voice mail message as the e-mail attachment. The voice mail message is received by a system that facilitates the transfer of the e-mail message. The system associates the included message with the voice mail message. The included message is inserted into the e-mail message. The system sends the e-mail message along with the included message and the attached voice mail message to an intended user. In a preferred embodiment, the included message is an advertising message.
Abstract:
A method for providing an instant messaging quorum monitoring service includes receiving a request from a first user to monitor instant messaging availability of a first number of users comprising at least one user who is currently unavailable. The method also includes receiving at least one quorum parameter for an instant messaging chat session. The method also includes monitoring the instant messaging availability of the first number of users and determining that the at least one quorum parameter for the instant messaging chat session is satisfied by the instant messaging availability of a second number of users of the first number of users. The second number of users comprises available users. The method also includes notifying the first user that the at least one quorum parameter for the instant messaging chat session is satisfied.
Abstract:
An automated method, performed by a computer-based system, for promoting responses to advertisements via a service provider (SP) network includes wirelessly transmitting a message to a mobile communication device when the mobile communication device is within a predetermined boundary range of an advertising location. The message includes a telephone number for responding to an advertisement. The subscriber is compensated based on a variety of criteria that includes responding to the advertisement by calling the telephone number. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for presence-based management in a communication network includes, using IM, discovering one or more network devices in a communication network. The network devices couple two or more endpoints to each other and enable communication between a first one of the endpoints and one or more second ones of the endpoints. The method also includes, using IM, obtaining presence information on the discovered network devices from the discovered network devices and, using the presence information on the discovered network devices from the discovered network devices, maintaining presence data associated with the discovered network devices.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatus and techniques for escalating an instant messaging (IM) session between two or more users to an audio session so that a communication device (by one or more users) that will optimize the audio session is selectively and intelligently utilized. In one embodiment, if an IP (Internet Protocol) phone is connected to the computer on which an IM session is being escalated, the IP telephone may be used instead of the computer device's own soft telephone so as to maximize audio clarity and quality. In another embodiment, a user's cell phone may be utilized for a mobile user who is using a laptop that is not coupled to an IP telephone or who is communicating from a hotel room in which a telephone call is typically more expensive than a cell phone call. Numerous embodiments for optimizing such audio sessions are described herein.
