Abstract:
A method and system for prepaying credits to a user account for communications services is provided. A system receives an origination number and a code. The code corresponds to a predefined payment amount for prepaid credit. The system credits an account associated with the origination number with the predefined payment amount for prepaid credit. Software for implementing the method and system may be implemented in a number of environments, including a computer system accessible remotely or a processor located on a user communication device.
Abstract:
A method of operating a telecommunications device wherein the telecommunications device is used to detect an outgoing call from a calling party to a called number. The calling number is used to determine whether or not the calling party is a universal service user. If it is determined that the called number is among a class of numbers exempt from charges, the call is connected. A determination on the sufficiency of funds in a pre-paid account is made. If it is determined that there are insufficient funds in a pre-paid account to cover charges associated with the outgoing call, a message is generated and sent to the calling party or a third party requesting authorization to charge an additional fee for connecting the calling party with the called party and providing related information or application services. User input is received from the calling party, indicating the calling party's authorization of such charge. The connection between the calling party and the called party is made. In an alternative embodiment, costs for providing data communications and related application services between an initiating party and a universal service user are calculated, in response to a request by the initiating party, in accordance with the network elements required for a requested quality of service.
Abstract:
The system and method for credit card replenishment of a wireless subscriber's account balance detailed herewith enables wireless subscribers to recharge their account balances in self-configured and/or telecommunications carrier-configured amounts via Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD) by charging the subscriber's credit card or similar type of disbursement instrument. Once a subscriber has stored such credit information and/or other banking details on the SCP by registering relevant details with the telecommunications carrier, the system and method disclosed herein prompts the subscriber for an amount and their PIN security code. The system and method then charges a subscriber's credit card, and adds the desired recharge amount to the subscriber's prepaid account balance. If no credit card or PIN information is stored for the subscriber, or if the Credit Card Information System (CCIS) rejects the charge, an appropriate error message is returned.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a service accounting system (3) containing one or more classified service accounts (4), in particular for mobile/cellular services. More specifically, a service accounting system (3) connected to a main accounting system (1), part of a main account (2) being transferable to a service account (4), and the use thereof are described. The invention provides a solution to deal with the accounting of differentiated services. In particular a solution is provided to give users control over their expenses on a differentiated service basis. Also to service providers a solution is provided to take actions on a differentiated services account basis.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for crediting a prepaid account through a telecommunication network which consists in: recording in a terminal SIM card storage data identifying at least a banking card. When executing a programme stored in the card, transmitting to the prepaid account management service the data identifying the banking card or one of the banking cards and the desired amount to be credited. The prepaid account management service verifies the validity of the banking card, requests authorisation for the desired amount to be credited, and sends to the terminal SIM card report of the transaction (confirmation/failure).
Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for providing prepaid services via an open network architecture system having access to a network, such as the Internet via an Internet protocol. The architecture system is operated by a system operator and includes a customer profile database which stores various customer-related information, such as customer names and their respective payment and contact information, a plurality of databases each storing prepaid accounts for a particular prepaid service, such as telephony, Internet access, paging, and cellular, and web-site system hardware connected to the customer profile database and the plurality of databases and to a network, such as the Internet, for ubiquitously accessing the databases via the Internet for viewing and managing one's prepaid services, as well as purchasing additional prepaid services and/or usage rights. The architecture system further includes network hardware connected to the web-site system hardware for enabling outside system operators, e.g., wholesalers, online retailers, system developers and ISPs, to utilize the architecture system to brand their own prepaid services and offer them through the architecture system.
