In one scenario, for example, the processing system may provide personal usage information to a user who is operating a user device. The personal usage information itemizes the amount of data (and/or other resources) that has been consumed by each application run by the user device. In another scenario, the processing system may provide expected usage information associated with at least one candidate application provided by a marketplace system. The expected usage information describes an expected consumption of data (and/or other resources) by the candidate application upon running the candidate application by the user device. The processing system can tailor the expected usage information that it sends to a particular user based on user profile data. The user profile data describes a manner in which users operate applications.

摘要： A user device described herein suggests a change to a quality setting associated with the consumption of content from one or more content providers. The change is suggested based both on a user's data plan and on a service quality of content received by the user device. This user-selected quality setting is then provided to the telecommunication network, which reduces network resources available for transmission of the content based on the quality setting. Such reduced network resources cause the content providers to provide content at a service quality no greater than the quality setting. Also, the user may be presented with or defaulted to selecting an option for a program offering consumption of the video content free of charge when provided to the user at a limited service quality. When the user participates, consumption of video content is then conditionally excluded from a consumption metric of the data plan.

Network preference(s) profile is generated on per subscriber, or per subscriber type, basis and is conveyed to a subscriber station over the air. Initial subscriber profile can be delivered at a time of provisioning a multi-technology mobile device, and updated based at least upon subscriber demand, a schedule established by a network operator or service provider, or an event related to coverage area relocation or contracted services. Radio technology preferences and display of associated technologies available to a multi-technology mobile device can be controlled dynamically on a per-call and/or per-application basis.
