Abstract: A deployment flap for a vehicular airbag system is disclosed. The deployment flap includes: a main body portion; wings that extend laterally from the main body portion; and at least one expandable portion. The main body portion includes a tear seam that is configured to separate during the inflation of an airbag such that the airbag extends through the deployment flap. The at least one expandable portion is reconfigurable from a collapsed configuration into an expanded configuration to thereby facilitate lengthening of the main body portion and the wings prior to separation of the tear seam during multi-stage inflation of the airbag, whereby the deployment flap directs the airbag and inhibits eccentric deployment.

Abstract: An airbag device configured to be disposed in front of an occupant in a vehicle includes: an inflator configured to generate gas; an airbag that is folded and housed, the airbag being configured to be inflated and deployed by the gas generated by the inflator; and a holding member including an attachment portion to which the inflator is attached, and holding the folded airbag capable of being inflated and deployed from an occupant side opposite the attachment portion. The holding member includes an inhibiting portion that covers a part of the folded airbag from the occupant side and that is configured to partially inhibit initial inflation and deployment of the airbag. The inhibiting portion has a first region and a second region where inhibiting forces that inhibit the initial inflation and deployment are different from each other.

The flap is formed on both sides thereof with expansion parts for expanding a width of the flap wider than a width of an inner space of the housing. Abstract: A side curtain airbag assembly includes an airbag cushion having a length and a height; a wrapper sheet having a length extending along the airbag cushion and a width perpendicular to the length; and a plurality of mounting strips distributed along the length. Each mounting strip includes a mounting bracket; a wrapping strip; and a connector strap. The wrapper sheet extends across at least two of the mounting strips and is affixed to the airbag cushion by at least one seam composed of stitches. The stitches divide the length of the wrapper sheet into a first partial width and a second partial width of the wrapper sheet. The first partial width of the wrapper sheet has a plurality of cutout openings distributed along an outer edge extending along the length of the wrapper sheet and aligned with the mounting strips. The second partial width can be free of cutout openings.
