Abstract: A side airbag device having an airbag cushion that restrains an occupant by expanding and deploying and an inflator disposed on an inner side of the seat frame that supplies expansion gas to the airbag cushion; and a holding part that holds the airbag cushion. The airbag cushion includes an inner expanding portion internally containing the inflator and an outer expanding portion connected to the inner expanding portion and is disposed on an outer side of the seat frame by being folded back at a front edge portion of the seat frame. The outer expanding portion includes a folded portion of the airbag cushion. A forward portion of the holding part contacts an outer surface of the folded portion of the outer expanding portion, and a rearward portion is connected to the seat frame. Furthermore, the holding part is configured to cover a part of the outer expanding portion.

Abstract: An improved modularization of an airbag cushion covered with a cover member and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. A first press is performed on the first portion of the cover member in a state where the folded airbag cushion 30 is not covered with the cover member. The first portion has at least a portion that includes a position corresponding to an inflator within the folded airbag cushion. Next, the folded airbag cushion is covered with the cover member, and in the covered state, a second press is applied to at least a part of the second portion of the cover member excluding the first portion.

Abstract: A retaining cover that encapsulates a cushion which is stowed in a bulk stowed form in front of the regular seating position of the vehicle having a side surface retaining part wound around a side surface of the cushion in stowed form, a cloth-like part provided in a manner traversing vertically across the upper surface of the cushion in stowed form, and a weak part provided at a prescribed location on the cloth-like part that divides the cloth-like part to an upper piece and lower piece due to the expansion pressure of the cushion. If the cushion expands and deploys with the occupant in close proximity, the upper piece of the cloth-like part is sandwiched in between the cushion and the occupant, such that the upper piece restrains the upward deployment of the cushion.

Abstract: A passenger seat airbag apparatus for a vehicle, including a housing installed in a structure inside the vehicle, an airbag cushion accommodated in a folded state inside the housing, and inflated and deployed between the structure inside the vehicle and an occupant to restrain and protect the occupant when the vehicle collides, and a flap having one end connected to a wrapper for wrapping the folded airbag cushion to guide a deployed direction of the airbag cushion while the airbag cushion is inflated and deployed. The flap is formed on both sides thereof with expansion parts for expanding a width of the flap wider than a width of an inner space of the housing. This invention further includes a structure inside the vehicle when the airbag cushion is inflated and deployed, which stably guides a deployed direction of the flap and the airbag cushion, enhancing deployment shape and performance.
