    摘要: A pivotal screwed fitting for joining pipes has a hollow body including a coupling nipple for attachment to the end of one of the pipes. The hollow body is adjustable about the axis of the coupling nipple. The fitting further has a hollow screw arranged in the hollow body. The hollow screw has a threaded end portion to be screwed into another one of the pipes for tightening the hollow body to the last-named pipe. The hollow screw has a plurality of ports which maintain communication between an axial blind bore of the hollow screw and an annular channel defined together by the hollow body and the hollow screw. A connecting passage defined by a wall of the hollow body maintains communication between the coupling nipple and the annular channel. The passage widens from the coupling nipple in the direction of the annular channel; the wall defining the connecting passage has an at least approximately rotationally symmetrical configuration with respect to the axis of the coupling nipple of the hollow body.

    摘要: Externally discharging downspouts normally dump water adjacent the building foundation where it accumulates and, if rainfall is heavy, it drains through the weeping tiles with the possibility of overflow inside the building leading to flooded basements. Various methods have been provided to lead downspout drainage water to a point remote from the building such as permanent pipes or automatically unrolling plastic tubes. The present device includes an adaptor secured to the downspout from which the usual elbow is removed, and a hinged trough or conduit section pivotally secured to the adaptor. The trough can be held vertically against the downspout and manually hinged downwardly when desired or can be electrically operated from one position to the other and vice-versa. If electrically operated, the operation can be automatically controlled by humidity or by switch operation from inside the building.

    摘要: A torsionally controlled swivel joint having at least one axis of rotation is provided with a torque element, either in the form of a helical torsion spring or one or more torsion bars, completely enclosed within the flow passage of the joint to counteract torsional forces applied to one section of the joint relative to another section. One end of the torque element is rigidly connected to one section of the joint while the other end is rigidly connected to a cylindrical adjustment disc rotatable with and sealed in fluid tight engagement to the other section of the swivel joint. In the preferred embodiment, torsional preloading of the torque element is achieved by a plurality of locking balls in a ball race formed in the mating surfaces of the adjustment disc and swivel joint section. The disc is held in desired angular relationship by loading the desired number of balls on each side of and between a ball stop block removably connected to the adjustment disc and the ball plug removably connected to the associated swivel joint section. Other embodiments of the invention provides means for finely adjusting the torsional preload of the spring in increments less than the diameter of one locking ball.

    摘要: A connector for a low-temperature-fluid duct comprises male and female connector members which interfit and, like the duct portions to which they are connected, have respective coaxial nested pipes including a first pipe forming a central flow passage for the deep-cooled medium, a second pipe defining with the first pipe a flow passage for a mixture of liquid and gaseous phases of this medium, a third pipe defining with the second pipe an inner vacuum chamber, a fourth pipe defining with the third pipe another flow passage for the medium, usually in a gaseous state, a fifth pipe defining with the fourth pipe an outer vacuum chamber, etc. According to the invention, the vacuum chambers of each connector member are sealed at the ends of the respective pipes and overlap the interfitting parts of the respective flow passages. One of the flow-passage pipes of one member is provided a ring seal while the other pipe of the same flow passage is formed with an axially extending sealing surface or layer cooperating with the ring seal.

    摘要: A swivel joint and connection for abutting high pressure hydraulic manifolds, the joint comprising two flanged non-rotating swivel bodies with one of the non-rotating swivel bodies having a rotating swivel body journaled therein. A flanged tubular sleeve is secured between the adjacent end faces of the two non-rotating swivel bodies with the opposite ends of the tubular sleeves received respectively in counterbores formed in one non-rotating swivel body and in the rotating swivel body, respectively. A static annular seal is disposed between the first end of the tubular sleeve and the counterbore in the non-rotating swivel body. A resilient dynamic annular seal is disposed between an annular shoulder on the opposite end of the tubular sleeve and a first counterbore in the rotating swivel body. A cylindrical outer surface extends from the annular shoulder of the tubular sleeve within a second counterbore in the rotating swivel body and a sliding annular piston is disposed between the inner surface of the second counterbore and the cylindrical surface of the tubular sleeve. A hydrogen sulfide-resistant liquid is disposed within the annular cavity between the inner wall of the second counterbore and the cylindrical surface of the tubular sleeve intermediate the dynamic annular seal and the annular piston. An annular filter is also positioned between the end face of the tubular sleeve and the second counterbore in the rotating swivel body intermediate the annular piston and the end face of the tubular sleeve.

    摘要: A swivel fitting for rotatably mounting two ends of hose or pipe together includes a female member and a male member. Both have cylindrical sidewalls, the inside diameter of the female member being larger than the outside diameter of the male member. The female member has a generally circular rear wall and the male member has a generally circular front wall spaced apart from the rear wall of the female member. The members have aligned fluid openings extending perpendicular to the front and rear walls, and locking means between the members maintain a given orientation of the male member in the female member. The swivel fitting has been improved by having first seal means of a circular O-ring extending between the cylindrical sidewall of the male member adjacent the cylindrical sidewall of the female member when the male member and the female member are maintained in the given orientation by the locking means. Preferably, the O-ring is located in a circumferential groove extending about the outside of the male member and the O-ring protrudes out of the groove. The inside diameter of the female member and the outside diameter of the male member and the depth of the groove are of such dimension relative to the diameter of the O-ring to compress the O-ring when the male and female members are maintained in the given orientation by the locking means. Second seal means, a circular O-ring, is located between the front wall and rear wall when the members are maintained in their given orientation. Preferably, the O-ring is located in an annular groove about the rear wall of the female member and protrudes from the groove. The spacing of the front and rear walls, the depth of the annular groove, and the diameter of the O-ring are such that the O-ring is compressed. Both O-rings are compressed a given amount relative to the dimensions of the member to allow improved sealing and improved rotation between the members.
