Abstract:
A method, system and program product for recording a program execution comprising recording processor context for each thread of the program, results of system calls by the program, and memory pages accessed by the program during an execution interval in a checkpoint file. Processor context includes register contents and descriptor entries in a segment descriptor table of the operating system. System calls are recorded for each program thread, tracked by an extension to the operating system kernel and include returned call parameter data. Accessed memory pages are recorded for each program process and include data, libraries and code pages. The program address space, processor context, and program threads are reconstructed from checkpoint data for replaying the program execution in a different operating system environment.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for controlling discontinuous reception (DRX) in mobile devices are disclosed. An example method for controlling discontinuous reception includes entering a packet transfer mode, receiving a network message that indicates that the mobile station is to utilize an optimized DRX mode, and entering DRX mode immediately upon leaving packet transfer mode.
Abstract:
A system and method allows a network, in response to a cell reselection notice, to serve a wireless, wireless device sufficient data to complete a pending data transfer instead of performing the immediate cell change. Appropriate allocation of radio resources to the wireless device in the current serving cell and before cell change allows reduced packet data transfer latencies for small data sessions, better load balancing and traffic resourcing between cells, appropriate allocation of uplink resources in the new target cell, and enhanced control over network congestion.
Abstract:
An improved apparatus and method for position sensing of a medical tracker device are presented. The apparatus and method are designed to constrain, rotate, and track the position of a medical tool. To improve the position sensing of the tracker, a joint that provides two degrees of freedom may use a revolute gear pair together with a rotary sensor for angular motion sensing and a sliding/prismatic assembly together with a linear magnetic sensor for linear position sensing. Thus, the linear motion sensing and the angular motion sensing are decoupled.
Abstract:
A method for replicating a program and data storage according to one embodiment comprises sending program replication data from a first program to a second program, the second program having an application program that is a replica of an application program of the first program; sending data storage requests from the first program to a first storage system; and replicating data stored in the first storage system in a second storage system. Additional methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed.
Abstract:
A system and method for dynamically computing an equi-distance point (EDP) for aircrafts is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for dynamically computing an EDP for an aircraft includes receiving at least two reference points for landing the aircraft upon an occurrence of an emergency, determining a remaining flight path for the aircraft based on a current location of the aircraft and a flight plan serviced by a flight management system (FMS) of the aircraft, and generating the EDP for the aircraft by locating a point on the remaining flight path which is equidistant from the at least two reference points.
Abstract:
An image guidance system is provided for improving tissue culture extraction where the tissue is extracted under the guidance of first and second knowledge-based systems. The first knowledge-based system provides initial suggested regions of interest for tissue biopsy in an internal organ. These regions of interest are then confirmed as being of interest of being benign by the second knowledge-based system. Information from two different sources may provide a more accurate, intelligent and robust method that helps in selecting biopsy sites accurately, such that suspicious regions are not overlooked and the benign regions are not unnecessarily operated upon. This not only helps in better diagnosis and treatment, but also helps reduce pain to the patient, in addition to reducing wastage of resources and invaluable time.
Abstract:
A system and method for computing flight time from an equi-distance point (EDP) to a reference point is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of a flight management system (FMS) of an aircraft for computing flight time from an EDP to a reference point for an emergency landing of the aircraft includes receiving at least two reference points for landing the aircraft upon an occurrence of an emergency and determining a remaining flight path for the aircraft based on a current location of the aircraft and a flight plan serviced by the FMS. Further, the method includes generating the EDP for the aircraft by locating a point in the remaining flight path, and calculating an expected flight time of the aircraft from the EDP to each of the at least two reference points based on a plurality of factors affecting the flight time of the aircraft.
Abstract:
Systems and method are provided for registering medical images to reduce movement between the images. In one arrangement, a hierarchical image registration is performed where regions of the largest differences between images are identified and utilized to drive the deformation of one of the images. Such regions are identified in one arrangement by determining intensities and gradient magnitudes for corresponding regions of the images. In another arrangement, a multi-resolution registration strategy is applied.
Abstract:
A photobioreactor with a gas input is disclosed herein. The photobioreactor is tilted about an axis of rotation at various angles to provide for various flow patterns of bubbles created by the gas input. The flow patterns may vary, but include: bubble flow; slug or plug flow; churn; annular flow; or wispy annular flow. In certain configurations, a bubble flowing through the photobioreactor may increase algae growth within the reactor.
