Abstract:
A connector includes: (i) an inner conductor engager comprising at least one tab being flexible to define an opening engager, (ii) a driver configured to drive the inner conductor engager to a desired position along the inner conductor, and (iii) a housing coupled to the inner conductor engager. The opening is configured to receive an inner conductor of a coaxial cable and extends through the entire inner conductor engager thus allowing the inner conductor to electrically connect to an interface port.
Abstract:
A coaxial cable comprises inner and outer conductors disposed along an elongate axis, a dielectric insulating material disposed between the inner and outer conductors, a compliant jacket disposed over the inner and outer conductors, and a compliant reinforcing outer layer disposed over the compliant inner jacket, the outer layer being physically separate from the inner jacket and comprising off-axis fibers to react loads incurred during one of two operating modes, i.e., an aerial and an in-ground operating mode.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a network interface device, including an active downstream radio-frequency (RF) signal path connecting an entry port and an active port. The network interface device also includes a passive downstream RF signal path connecting the entry port and a passive port. The network interface device further includes an active upstream RF signal path connecting the entry port and the active port. Additionally, network interface device includes a passive upstream RF signal path connecting the entry port and the passive port. Moreover, the network interface device includes a downstream directional coupler having an input port, a through port, and a coupled port. The passive downstream RF signal path comprises the input port of the downstream directional coupler and the coupled port of the downstream directional coupler.
Abstract:
A torque-limiting torque sleeve may include an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve configured to be coupled to one another in a coaxial arrangement such that the outer sleeve is fixed relative to the inner sleeve in the longitudinal direction. A first end of the outer sleeve overlies a first end of the inner sleeve, and a second end of the inner sleeve extends from the outer sleeve to provide an exposed length. A torque limiting feature is configured such that rotation of the outer member in a first direction enables tightening of a coupler on an interface port up to a predetermined torque limit, and rotation of the outer member in a second direction opposite to the first direction loosens the coupler on the interface port. In the event that the torque limiting feature fails such that rotation of the outer member in the first and second directions does not tighten or loosen the coupler on the interface port, the exposed length of the inner member is gripable by a user to tighten or loosen the coupler on the interface port.
Abstract:
Return loss due to excessive signal reflection into a cable television (CATV) network from an inoperative or abnormally operative terminal adapter is minimized, to communicate enhanced passive downstream signals to passive subscriber devices such as “life-line” telephone sets. A predetermined termination impedance is substituted for an active branch circuit of the terminal adapter whenever reduced input voltage, over-current or under-current conditions exist in the terminal adapter.
Abstract:
A grounding block includes a conductive grounding surface configured to electrically ground a wire to a grounded structure, a retention member rotationally fixed about an axis orthogonal to the grounding surface and slidable toward and away from the conductive grounding surface in a direction parallel to the axis, and a biasing element configured to apply a first force to the retention member in the direction toward the conductive grounding surface to electrically ground the wire to the housing to satisfy a first regulatory requirement. A fastener is operative to apply a second force to the retention member in the direction toward the grounding surface to apply a mechanical load to satisfy a second regulatory requirement.
Abstract:
A cable connector comprising a connector body, a compression member operably connected to a second end of the connector body, the compression member including a compression portion having a forward facing surface, wherein the compression portion protrudes from an inner surface of the compression member, wherein, when the compression member is slidably axially compressed within the connector body, the compression portion of the compression member compresses an inner sleeve into crimping engagement with a coaxial cable is provided. An associated method is also provided.
Abstract:
A grounding member for maintaining a ground path in a cable connector includes, in one embodiment, an inner core configured to flex when a force is applied to the grounding member during operation of the connector. The grounding member further includes an outer conductive coating applied to the inner core. The outer conductive coating is configured to flex from a first state to a second state when a force is applied to the grounding member, so as to maintain a conductive path through the connector when the outer conductive coating flexes between the first and second states during operation of the connector.
Abstract:
A tensile-force buffering apparatus interposes a physical structure and a drop clamp having a messenger of an input drop cable secured thereto. The tensile-force buffering apparatus includes an outer housing defining an elongate inner cavity and a retainer, and a spring-strut assembly. The spring-strut assembly includes a central shaft, a retention member at a first end of the central shaft, and a coil spring disposed about the central shaft. The spring-strut assembly is received in the cavity of the outer housing, and the retention member is held by the retainer while a load compressing the coil spring is less than a predetermined threshold load. The retention member is released from the outer housing when the load compressing the coil spring reaches the predetermined threshold load, thereby effecting separation of the spring-strut assembly from the outer housing.
Abstract:
