摘要: The present invention is directed to a power line system having a number of controlled release mechanisms. A number of utility poles with cross bars each have a controlled release mechanism attached. A number of sensors are attached to the cross bars. A communication system is electrically connected to the sensors. A sector switch is electrically connected to the communication system. When the controlled release mechanism senses too much force on one of the utility poles it lowers the cross bar in a controlled manner to the ground. A sensor detects this and the communication system sends a message to the sector switch to open. When the storm or other threat is over, the cross bars can be raised by turning the winch in the controlled release mechanism.

摘要: The present invention relates to problems how to keep cable arrangement functional, or at least make the damage as little as possible, after being exposed to different types of mechanical overloads. The problems are solved by methods and arrangements in which the securing means and the contact material of the securing means are arranged so that the cable can slide through the securing means when it is exposed to mechanical overloads.

摘要: An apparatus for connecting two pairs of conductors and one pair of ground wires and for allowing separation of the same upon the application of a tensional force upon at least one of the conductors or ground wires. The apparatus includes two plates that each defines three holes configured to receive two conductors and a ground wire, wherein the plates are positioned adjacent to each other such that the respective holes in each plate are aligned such that the conductors and ground wires coming from each plate would be in physical contact. Three connectors hold the plates together. The first two connectors are configured to release the plates upon the application of a tensional force on the conductors or ground wires before the third connector releases the plates, thereby separating the conductors before separating the ground wires.

摘要: The invention uses one or more scissor devices, or disks, or cogs such that the axial thermal expansion of a coupling member is amplified such that this amplified movement is used to automatically mitigate the sag of a suspended line; the same ambient temperature change that causes the line to sag concomitantly causes the coupling member to expand, so that sag mitigation is passive and automatic. The invention includes a device for automatically mitigating thermal expansion sag in suspended lines comprising a coupling member or actuator rod (140) that expands axially with increasing temperature and that is mounted between the proximal arms (110) of a reverse-scissor component (60), said reverse-scissor component having first arms (70) and second arms (80) and a hinge (90) and the arms having distal ends (100) longer than proximal ends (110). The distal arms are insulated by insulators (130). The reverse hinge acts such that when the proximal arms are moved apart, the distal arms are brought together. The distal arms of the reverse-scissor component are attached to a power line (120) such that when the distal arms are brought together, the slack in the power line is taken up automatically as ambient temperature increases.

摘要: A tensile-force buffering apparatus interposes a physical structure and a drop clamp having a messenger of an input drop cable secured thereto. The tensile-force buffering apparatus includes an outer housing defining an elongate inner cavity and a retainer, and a spring-strut assembly. The spring-strut assembly includes a central shaft, a retention member at a first end of the central shaft, and a coil spring disposed about the central shaft. The spring-strut assembly is received in the cavity of the outer housing, and the retention member is held by the retainer while a load compressing the coil spring is less than a predetermined threshold load. The retention member is released from the outer housing when the load compressing the coil spring reaches the predetermined threshold load, thereby effecting separation of the spring-strut assembly from the outer housing.
