A raster image can be analyzed with respect to the specialty media upon which the raster image is rendered, in order to determine if a difference exists between particular sections of the specialty media and the raster image. Thereafter, one or more regions of the raster image can be selected for offsetting, if it is determined that such a difference does exist, in order to thereafter re-render the raster image and thereby provide a non-destructive editing capability with respect to the raster image and a rapid resolution of quality problems associated with rendering the raster image via the specialty media.

    摘要: Document descriptions, typically written in a page description language, are automatically transformed down to the page level based on the perceived value of the content of each page. In normal production, documents, printers, and entire printing facilities typically have a set of predefined production parameters that govern the production and appearance of all documents. In enhanced operation, identification rules automatically generate perceived page values for each document page. The pages can be grouped into page subsets based on their perceived values. The Transformation directives can then be selectively invoked to alter the production parameters used for printing the pages within certain page subsets and thereby alter the final appearance, plex, media, or color space of the printed pages within those subsets.

A media definition for a specialty media can be enhanced to include information about multiple variants that contain varying sizes of hinge sections related to a specific media and a page assignment rule. The set of hinged media variants can be treated as a single media type and the properties of the media type determine sheet thresholds for each variant. The specific media variants can be assigned to specific document pages based on the page assignment rule. The pages in the center of the book utilize larger hinges to allow the pages to lie flat, while pages at the beginning and end of the book utilize smaller hinges to prevent imaging on the hinge area.

    摘要: Offline proofing systems and methods for color image processing may include receiving a digitized image document to be press printed in a job, determining job status as corresponding to one of a color managed proof and a color managed press, installing a proofer profile as an output profile and a press profile as a simulation profile in response to the job status corresponding to the color managed proof, printing the job by the proof printer as a proof copy in response to the color managed proof, installing the press profile as an output profile and discarding the simulation profile in response to the job status corresponding to the color managed press, and printing the job by the press printer as a press copy in response to the color managed press. The color managed press may be based on a customer contract approval. The proofer profile may correspond to a proof printer and the press profile may correspond to a press printer. These systems and methods may further provide the input file in an RGB space to be translated through a profile connection space to at least one of the simulation profile and the output profile in CMYK space.

A page specific metadata in a PDL file can be evaluated against specific rules to automatically create page exception programming. An embedded PDL device control instructions can also be evaluated and converted into page exception programming thereby producing an integrating representation of all page exception programming for a print job. The PDL page extracted as an exception page can then be displayed on a graphical user interface which provides an operator to confirm pages for editing.

After the rules are input and the rasterized data is produced, the method automatically colorizes portions of rasterized content according to the colorization rules and this generates a colorized electronic document.
