Abstract: Embodiments of an access point (AP), station (STA) and method of communication are generally described herein. The AP may include a used basic service set (BSS) color in a downlink physical layer convergence procedure protocol, data unit (PPDU). The used BSS color may indicate communication between the AP and associated STAs. The AP may detect another PPDU from an STA that is un associated with the AP. If a header portion of the detected PPDU includes the used BSS color, the AP may: determine an alternate BSS color, and transmit a color switch announcement (CSA) element that indicates the alternate BSS color. The CSA element may be configurable to further indicate whether the AP and the associated STAs are to switch, from the operating channel to an alternate channel for the communication.

Abstract: Embodiments of a user station (STA), access point (AP), and method for random access contention in a wireless network are generally described herein. The STA may receive, from the AP, a beacon frame for a beacon interval. The STA may further receive a first random access Trigger Frame (TF) that indicates a first allocation of channel resources for random access contention by STAs during a first uplink transmission period of the beacon interval. The beacon frame may include a transmission timing for the first random access TF and a first TF cascade type for the first random access TF. The first TF cascade type may indicate whether a next TF is a random access TF or a scheduled access TF.

A device may determine an overlapping basic service set (OBSS) associated with one or more access points. The device may then reduce a transmit power by a first margin. The device may then increase a packet detection threshold associated with the OBSS by a second margin. The device then sends an uplink data frame to at least one of the one or more access points.

The AP may transmit a trigger frame (TF) that indicates resource units (RUs) that are available for contention based access by STAs for a fine timing measurement (FTM) protocol. The AP may attempt to decode one or more initial fine timing measurement request (iFTMR) frames received in the indicated RUs. The AP may transmit a broadcast acknowledgement (ACK) frame that indicates whether at least one iFTMR frame was decoded. The AP may, for a decoded iFTMR frame: allocate the RU corresponding to the decoded iFTMR frame to a corresponding STA for the FTM protocol; and transmit, in the corresponding RU, an initial fine timing measurement (iFTM) frame that includes an identifier of the corresponding STA.

Abstract: Methods and devices are described for providing wireless stations (STAs) with two sets of enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) parameters. Legacy EDCA parameters that are for single user (SU) operations and may be used by both high-efficiency (HE) STAs and legacy STAs without multi-user (MU) capability. MU EDCA parameters are defined to be more restrictive than legacy EDCA parameters in favoring MU operations. Embodiments are described that define sets of rules for regulating how STAs capable of both SU and MU uplink operations can use the different sets of EDCA parameters.

The AC constraint parameter may indicate a recommended AC from which at least a portion of the aggregate TIDs are to be selected. The TID aggregation limit parameter may indicate a number of TIDs to be selected for the group of aggregate TIDs.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer readable media for pre-association frame exchange using random access are disclosed. An apparatus of a high-efficiency wireless local-area network (HEW) master station is disclosed. The apparatus includes transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry which may be configured to generate a trigger frame for uplink random access (TF-R), and transmit the TF-R. The transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry may be further configured to receive one or more responses in accordance with orthogonal frequency division multiple-access (OFDMA) to the trigger frame from one or more pre-association stations where the responses comprise pre-association identifiers corresponding to the one or more pre-association stations. Moreover, the transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry may be further configured to generate one or more acknowledgements to the one or more pre-association stations, and transmit the acknowledgements in accordance with OFDMA to the one or more pre-association stations.

Abstract: Computing readable media, apparatuses, and methods for network allocation vector operations to reduce channel access delay. An apparatus of a wireless device is disclosed. The processing circuitry further configured to configure the wireless device to perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) for each of a plurality of CCA configurations applicable to the first one or more DMG antennas, where each CCA configuration comprises a second one or more of the DMG antennas. The processing circuitry further configured to if each CCA configuration applicable to the first one or more DMG antennas indicate the channel is idle, decrease a backoff time, and, if the backoff time is zero, configure the wireless device to transmit a packet on the channel using the first one or more DMG antennas.
