    Abstract: Embodiments of a user station (STA), access point (AP), and method for random access contention in a wireless network are generally described herein. The STA may receive, from the AP, a beacon frame for a beacon interval. The STA may further receive a first random access Trigger Frame (TF) that indicates a first allocation of channel resources for random access contention by STAs during a first uplink transmission period of the beacon interval. The beacon frame may include a transmission timing for the first random access TF and a first TF cascade type for the first random access TF. The first TF cascade type may indicate whether a next TF is a random access TF or a scheduled access TF.

    Abstract: Methods and devices are described for providing wireless stations (STAs) with two sets of enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) parameters. Legacy EDCA parameters that are for single user (SU) operations and may be used by both high-efficiency (HE) STAs and legacy STAs without multi-user (MU) capability. MU EDCA parameters are defined to be more restrictive than legacy EDCA parameters in favoring MU operations. Embodiments are described that define sets of rules for regulating how STAs capable of both SU and MU uplink operations can use the different sets of EDCA parameters.

    Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer readable media for pre-association frame exchange using random access are disclosed. An apparatus of a high-efficiency wireless local-area network (HEW) master station is disclosed. The apparatus includes transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry which may be configured to generate a trigger frame for uplink random access (TF-R), and transmit the TF-R. The transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry may be further configured to receive one or more responses in accordance with orthogonal frequency division multiple-access (OFDMA) to the trigger frame from one or more pre-association stations where the responses comprise pre-association identifiers corresponding to the one or more pre-association stations. Moreover, the transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry may be further configured to generate one or more acknowledgements to the one or more pre-association stations, and transmit the acknowledgements in accordance with OFDMA to the one or more pre-association stations.

    Abstract: Computing readable media, apparatuses, and methods for network allocation vector operations to reduce channel access delay. An apparatus of a wireless device is disclosed. The apparatus comprising processing circuitry configure to: select a first one or more directional multi-gigabit (DMG) antennas from DMG antennas of the wireless device. The processing circuitry further configured to configure the wireless device to perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) for each of a plurality of CCA configurations applicable to the first one or more DMG antennas, where each CCA configuration comprises a second one or more of the DMG antennas. The processing circuitry further configured to if each CCA configuration applicable to the first one or more DMG antennas indicate the channel is idle, decrease a backoff time, and, if the backoff time is zero, configure the wireless device to transmit a packet on the channel using the first one or more DMG antennas.
