摘要:
The present invention relates to the field of absorbent articles for personal hygiene. Specifically, the present invention provides a superabsorbent material having improved absorbency of complex fluids, such as body fluids like menses. Preferred absorbent articles for personal hygiene in the context of the present invention are feminine care absorbent articles.

A multicomponent material, which is comprised of chitosan material being coated onto an inert carrier material. The multicomponent material can be incorporated into an absorbent structure. In one aspect of the invention, the multicomponent material can be incorporated throughout the thickness of an absorbent structure. Absorbent articles comprising the multicomponent material are also provided.

A method for correctly placing an absorbent article in the crotch portion of an undergarment having a crotch portion bounded on opposite sides by portions of curved leg openings. In one embodiment the method comprises the steps of providing an absorbent article having at least one indicator marker visible from the body-facing surface, the indicator marker disposed to indicate proper alignment of the absorbent article with respect to the curved leg openings; positioning the absorbent article in the crotch portion such that the indicator marker is aligned with at least one leg elastic of the curved leg openings; and, affixing the article to the crotch portion of the undergarment.

The present invention relates to an absorbent article for personal hygiene, especially a sanitary napkin, panty liner and the like, comprising an adhesive for securing said article to the garments of a wearer. Said adhesive is capable to establish a bonding of the garment-facing surface of said absorbent article to the garment of the wearer, which is able to resist a peel force of at least 0.6 N per 5 cm, according to the test method herein, on a reference microfibre substrate.

A sanitary napkin comprising a fluid permeable topsheet, a fluid permeable backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed therebetween is disclosed. The sanitary napkin can be a pantiliner. The absorbent core comprises relatively hydrophilic material defining a core outer periphery. The topsheet and the backsheet comprise relatively hydrophobic nonwoven material, at least one of the topsheet and the backsheet defining a sanitary napkin outer periphery that is substantially larger than the core outer periphery. The area between the core outer periphery and the sanitary napkin outer periphery is a breathable zone. The sanitary napkin further comprises a fluid impermeable barrier between the backsheet and the absorbent core, the fluid impermeable barrier being disposed within the core outer periphery.

The present invention relates to a menstrual fluid management device that is attached directly to the wearer by use of an adhesive. The device allows for direct and immediate containment of menstrual and other vaginal discharges. In particular, the device improves the prevention of soiling over devices already known in the art by using an attachment flange around an orifice which has a shape of the generally oblong dimensions, where the width in the rear end of the orifice is wider than at the front end, thereby improving the circumscription of the female genitalia and the sealing along the flange to the skin of the wearer.

The present invention relates to articles, preferably disposable absorbent articles like sanitary napkins and pantiliners, which comprise a chitosan material and an anionic absorbent gelling material. Such disposable absorbent articles deliver improved odor control performance and improved fluid handling properties/absorption performance, especially in case of electrolytes-containing fluids like menses.
