    摘要: A toner process comprising aggregating or coagulating a latex emulsion comprising a resin, a colorant and wax particles using an amount of polymetal ion coagulant to provide core particles; heating the core particles to provide micron size aggregates; optionally adding a second resin emulsion; adding a sequestering or complexing component and a base to remove the polymetal ion in a controlled manner; further heating the mixture to provide toner particles; and optionally, isolating the toner particles.

    摘要: A multicolored display and process for forming such a display is provided. The multicolored display includes marking particles comprising a mixture of photochromic materials. The photochromic materials each exhibit a first “invisible” photochromic state at a first absorption spectrum and at least a second “visible” photochromic state at a second absorption spectrum. The second “visible” photochromic state of each photochromic material produces a different color relative to the other photochromic materials. In embodiments, the marking particles include a mixture of a spiropyran material and a dithienylethene material.

    摘要: A toner process comprised of a first heating of a mixture of an acicular magnetite dispersion, a colorant dispersion, a wax dispersion, and a core latex comprised of a first latex containing a vinyl crystalline polyester resin substantially free of crosslinking, and wherein said polyester is substantially dissolved in a vinyl monomer and polymerized to provide said first core latex resin, and which mixture contains a second crosslinked resin containing latex wherein said heating is accomplished in the presence of a coagulant to provide aggregates; adding a shell latex comprised of a polymer substantially free of crosslinking, and further heating said aggregates to provide coalesced toner particles, and wherein said further heating is at a higher temperature than said first heating.

    摘要: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of a polymer which comprises effecting bulk polymerization of a mixture of at least one monomer, a free radical polymerization initiator, and a stable free radical agent until from about 10 to about 50 weight percent of the monomer has been polymerized; optionally adding additional free radical initiator; optionally adding a colorant; dispersing with a high shear mixer the aforementioned partially polymerized mixture in water containing a stabilizing component selected from the group consisting of non-ionic and ionic water soluble polymeric stabilizers to obtain a suspension of particles with an average diameter of from about 0.1 to about 10 microns; polymerizing the resulting suspension to form said polymer.

    摘要: A process for the preparation of a combination of color toners comprised of a cyan toner, a magenta toner, a yellow toner, and a black toner, each of said toners being comprised of resin and pigment, and wherein the pigment is cyan, magenta, yellow and black, each of the said pigments are dispersed in a nonionic, or neutral charge surfactant, and wherein each toner in the combination is prepared by (i) preparing a pigment dispersion, which dispersion is comprised of a pigment and nonionic water soluble surfactant; (ii) shearing said pigment dispersion with a latex or emulsion blend comprised of resin, a counterionic surfactant with a charge polarity of opposite sign to that of said ionic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant; (iii) heating the above sheared blend below about the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the resin to form electrostatically bound toner size aggregates; and (iv) heating said bound toner size aggregates above about the Tg of the resin.

    摘要: A process for the preparation of toner comprised ofi) flushing pigment into a sulfonated polyester resin, and which resin has a degree of sulfonation of from between about 0.5 and about 2.5 mol percent based on the repeat unit of the polymer;ii) dispersing the resulting pigmented sulfonated polyester resin in warm water, which water is at a temperature of from about 40.degree. to about 95.degree. C., and which dispersing is accomplished by a high speed shearing polytron device operating at speeds of from about 100 to about 5,000 revolutions per minute thereby enabling the formation of toner sized particles, and which particles are of a volume average diameter of from about 3 to about 10 microns with a narrow GSD;iii) recovering said toner by filtration;iv) drying said toner by vacuum; andv) optionally adding to said dry toner charge additives and flow aids.
