An article or composition containing the polymer colorant. A toner including the polymer colorant, and optionally, one or more ingredients selected from the group consisting of crystalline polyester resins, amorphous polyester resins, colorants, waxes, coagulants, mordants, and mixtures and combinations thereof. A polymer latex including an aqueous dispersion of polymer colorant, wherein the polymer colorant comprises polymer monomer units and at least one alizarin unit which is incorporated into the polymer and which provides color to the polymer colorant; and optionally, a mordant.
Abstract:
A magenta toner for developing an electrostatic image composed of a binder and a colorant is disclosed. The toner contains a tone controlling agent having a peak of fluorescent spectrum from 380 to 500 nm. An image excellent in light fastness and durability can be obtained and high color reproducibility with sufficient transparency and chromaticness can be realized by the magenta toner.
Abstract:
A toner for printing documents that are difficult to chemically or physically forge and that are readily easy to visually verify and methods of using and forming the toner are disclosed. The toner includes a colorant for printing an image on a surface of a document, a fluorescent pigment that under normal lighting is masked by the colorant but creates a visible image on the first surface of the a substrate when irradiated by black or ultra-violet light, and a dye for forming a latent version of the image underneath a surface of a substrate. An image formed using the toner of the invention is readily verified by comparing the colorant-formed image and the dye-formed image. In addition, if a solvent is used in an attempt to alter the printed image on the substrate, the dye migrates or diffuses to indicate tampering with the document.

Abstract:
A dye base sulfate and method of making are described. The dye base sulphate of formula (I) is produced with a residual amine content of less than 2000 ppm, as determined by HPLC, by precipitation of the dye base, made by Friedel-Crafts alkylation, substitution and hydrolysis, as the dye base sulphate is a) taken up in water and subjected to a first steam distillation then filtered and optionally dried at 50 to 180° C., b) the pressed cake is treated with water or the optionally dried dye base sulphate is moistened with water, c) subjected to a further steam distillation and filtration and d) dried at 50 to 180° C.
