The present disclosure relates to a method for operating a base station, comprising the steps of: transmitting first control area setting information containing first demodulation reference signal (DMRS) setting information for a first control area; transmitting second control area setting information containing second DMRS setting information for a second control area; identifying a third control area where the first control area overlaps with the second control area; and transmitting a DMRS on the basis of the first DMRS configuration information in the first control area including the third control area, a base station which performs the same, a terminal which communicates with the base station, and a method for operating the terminal.
