Abstract:
A conventional data communication apparatus cannot set different receiving capacity for each type of received image data. To solve this problem, a data communication apparatus according to this invention notifies a partner apparatus of the receiving capacity in the normal reception mode of the apparatus at the start of communication. If high-quality transmission is designated for image data transmitted from the partner apparatus, the data communication apparatus determines whether the image data exceeds its own receiving capacity in the high-quality reception mode. If the image data does not exceed the receiving capacity in the high-quality reception mode, the data communication apparatus performs high-quality reception/recording; otherwise, notifies the partner apparatus of its own receiving capacity in the high-quality reception mode.
Abstract:
In facsimile-communicating an original when the Internet selection state in an operation unit is set to “automatic selection”, the original is communicated by selecting the e-mail-based Internet for an A4 original size, and the session-based Internet for a B4 or A3 original size. At the same time, the original information is transmitted in accordance with the transmission mode of its own apparatus, the encoding method determined based on the reception capability of a facsimile apparatus at a reception destination, and the receiving-side output original size and resolution.
Abstract:
When image data converted into a predetermined file format is communicated via the Internet (IT) but does not reach a target calling destination, the image data is communicated using only a PSTN. When the partner apparatus cannot interpret the contents of the received data, unconverted image data is communicated via the IT. When IT communication of converted image data or IT communication of unconverted image data to a given calling destination fails, the communication route is managed by the statuses of a plurality of internal flags for each calling destination in a calling destination registration unit (26) so as not to select the unsuccessful communication route in next and subsequent communication operations.
Abstract:
It is so arranged that even if a procedure which does not report the number of lines of an image before image information is transmitted gives rise to an error, the occurrence of the same error can be prevented when a message is re-transmitted. To accomplish this, a reading circuit (14) reads a JPEG color image when facsimile transmission of the image is performed in a direct transmit mode. While the image is being stored in a memory (18), the number of lines in the image is counted. If the number of lines counted attains a predetermined number, the image is encoded in accordance with the JPEG standard and then is transmitted. Here the number of lines is transmitted as zero before the image information is transmitted. If an error occurs on the receiving side, the image is re-transmitted. At re-transmission, the counted number of lines is transmitted before the image information.
Abstract:
To make it possible to perform dial-up connection through a telephone line to the Internet or leased-line connection through a leased line and change communication modes when facsimile communication is executed correspondingly to a connection line used for facsimile communication through the Internet.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus appropriately controls the both-side recording and the both-side reading transmission with respect to a long size source document so as to supply an easily readable reception document to a user on a reception side. When the both-side reading is selected, while a receiver at a partner station is capable of performing the both-side recording and information of the source document is of regular size, this communication apparatus notifies the receiver on the partner station of information of page numbers of the source document and information on a front side or a back side of the source document to be transmitted for each page. If the receiver on the partner station is not capable of performing the both-side recording and/or the information of the source document is not of regular size, this communication apparatus notifies only the information on page numbers of the source documents to be transmitted.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus and its control method which assure an execution of a polling communication in a state that an ECM transmit inhibition is selected while an ECM receive inhibition is not selected for communications in the ITU-T Recommendation V.8, V.21, V.27ter, V.29, V.17, or V.34, by executing a V.17 or lower transmission without executing a V.34 transmission if the ECM transmit inhibition is selected, by executing a V.17 or lower reception without executing a V.34 reception if the ECM receive inhibition is selected, and by executing a V.8 protocol for a reception so as to execute a V.34 reception if it is a receive operation or to shift to a V.17 or lower polling transmission if it is a polling operation and executing a V.17 or lower transmission for a transmission in a state that the ECM transmit inhibition is selected while the ECM receive inhibition is not selected.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus receives the identification information of a partner station, and performs a communication operation in accordance with the received identification information. A first detecting unit detects a calling signal. An identification information receiving unit detects the identification information of a calling party upon detection of the calling signal, and a second detecting unit detects whether or not the terminal of the calling party is a data communication terminal. A registration unit registers the identification information of the partner station in a memory, so that whether the partner station is a speech or data communication terminal can be discriminated later. A control unit checks if the identification information receiving unit receives the identification information of the calling party. When the identification information of the calling party is received, the control unit checks if the-received identification information is registered in the memory, and selectively executes a speech communication process and a data communication process in accordance with the checking result and the detection result of the second detecting unit.
Abstract:
A communication system in which when an incoming call has arrived, a communication line having the capability of a high sampling rate is automatically selected without assistance of an exchange operator by transmitting an ultra high speed modem indication signal indicating the capability of data communication at an ultra high speed modem rate among the capabilities of a called terminal, and receiving an ultra high speed modem capability signal indicating the capability of an ultra high speed modem of a calling terminal.
Abstract:
The invention provides a facsimile apparatus which can perform the re-transmitting operation adapted to receive reception data in a good state on the reception side upon error re-transmission when a both-side document sheet is transmitted. At the time of a facsimile communication, the presence or absence of a both-side reception function is notified from a receiver to a transmitter and the both-side document sheet is designated by a DCS signal from the transmitter to the receiver. When the both-side document sheet is designated by the DCS signal, the front side and the reverse side are sequentially transmitted. When shifting to a one-side document sheet in the middle of the page, the one-side document sheet is designated by the DCS signal by returning to phase B. When the one-side document sheet is designated by the DCS signal and transmitted and the sheet is shifted to the both-side document sheet in the middle of the page, the both-side document sheet is designated by the DCS signal by returning to phase B and, thereafter, the front side and the reverse side are sequentially transmitted. As for the error re-transmission when an error occurs during the communication, the re-transmission from the front side is always performed upon transmission of the both-side document sheet.
