Abstract:
The invention relates to a die stamping method and to a device for performing the method. The problem of the invention is to reduce the production of waste during die stamping. This is brought about in that on supplying the foil web to the stamping station a sensor means monitors whether there is a defect therein. If a defect is detected, the foil web supply to the stamping station is controlled in such a way that the defect is conveyed through the stamping station between two stamping operations. Thus, the defect does not arrive in the stamping or printing area of the stamping station, so that no waste is produced.
Abstract:
An embossing device for tissue paper converting apparatus, comprises a first roll and a second roll cooperating with each other to emboss a web of tissue paper in-between, first protrusions on the circumference of the first roll cooperating with the second roll to form a first nip with a first gap in-between, second protrusions on the circumference of the first or second roll cooperating with the other of the first and second roll as a counter roll to form a second nip with a second gap in-between. The embossing device further comprises an adjusting element for selectively adjusting the second gap of the second nip of some or all second protrusions.
Abstract:
A processing module and print material process and apparatus are provided. The processing module comprises at least one processing tool having at least one print material processing functionality, and at least one read and write data storage having data with at least one parameter that allows identification of the processing module.

Abstract:
High sheet count rolls of spot-embossed, soft bathroom tissue suffer from embossing patterns becoming pressed out by the high winding tension necessary to confine the size of the roll to a diameter of about 5 inches. This size is necessary in order for such high sheet count rolls to fit within the bathroom tissue dispensers found in most households. However, by embossing the tissue between a resilient back-up roll and an engraved embossing roll having short male embossing element heights of only from about 0.005 to about 0.035 inch, the tissue sheet becomes simultaneously calendered, which lowers the sheet caliper (as measured under a compressive load). Because of the resulting lower caliper, the embossed sheet can be wound into the required roll size with less tension on the sheet, such that the embossing pattern for tissue sheets within the roll remains well defined.

Abstract:
An embossed tissue having improved bulk and puffiness while being non-nesting by having a lattice pattern and at least two signature bosses. More particularly, one of the signature bosses is defined by embossments having a lower portion which is continuous and an upper portion which is defined by crenels and merlons.
Abstract:
Embossing a web between unmatched male and female embossing elements, wherein the sidewall slope of the female element is different than the sidewall slope of the male element, provides an embossed web having markedly improved embossing pattern definition and, in the case of roll products, greater roll bulk at equivalent roll firmness. The unmatched male and female embossing elements are preferably made by laser engraving rubber embossing rolls.
Abstract:
Uniform embossing on both sides of a web of paper may be obtained in a single pass through an embossing nip by interposing a thin film of tough, resilient material in the form of a continuous belt of approximately 0.050 inch thickness or less between the embossing roll and the backup roll. Stationary guide members, which may be combined with air bearings, are provided to insure proper tracking of the belt.
Abstract:
A roll-type embossing machine in which a pair of material processing rolls are supported on a machine frame. One of the rolls is movable relative to the other and relative to the machine frame by a hydraulic-pneumatic power lift device connected to opposite ends of the movable roll supporting shaft. The other roll is fixed in relation to the machine frame and is provided with an engraved material processing sleeve which can be readily removed and replaced on the machine by means of a swingable bearing support means connected to the roll shaft at one end of the roll and a support bracket or fixture attached to the machine frame adjacent the opposite end of the fixed roll and positioned in close proximity to the roll shaft.
