A duct containing a heat-transport medium is arranged at least partially within such envelope and is so associated with the absorber that heat derived from incident solar radiation is transferred to the heat-transport medium in the duct during operation. A reversible heatable hydrogen getter consisting of a partial metal hydride is positioned in the envelope, together with a fully hydrogenized metal hydride thermally more stable and having a higher affinity for oxygen than the partial hydride.

    摘要: Solar collector comprising a closed housing of mainly rectangular cross-section, a collector thermally connected to the housing for converting solar rays into heat, a working fluid which, during operation, is partly liquid and partly gaseous, an evaporation space within the housing, a condensation space within the housing, an internal connection between said spaces, and a heat exchanger. An intensive thermal contact between the heat exchanger and the working fluid is obtained by providing the condensation space with a wall profiled inwardly of the housing and forming a space substantially shut off from the surrounding atmosphere, the space being positioned within the outer boundary of the housing but outside the internal portion thereof, and by disposing the heat exchanger within the space and in thermal contact with the wall.

    摘要: A solar heat collector comprises an evacuated transparent pipe; a solar heat collection plate disposed in the transparent pipe; a heat pipe, disposed in the transparent pipe so as to contact with the solar heat collection plate, and containing an evaporable working liquid therein; a heat medium pipe containing a heat medium to be heated; a heat releasing member extending along the axis of the heat medium pipe and having thin fin portions extending from the axis to the inner surface of the heat medium pipe; and a cylindrical casing surrounding coaxially the heat medium pipe to provide an annular space which communicates with the heat pipe. The evaporable working liquid evaporates, receiving solar heat collected by the heat collection plate. The resultant vapor heats the heat medium through the heat medium pipe and the heat releasing member.

    摘要: A heat pipe includes an elongated, heat conductive shell containing heat transfer fluid which is vaporizable and condensable, and cooling means within the shell to condense the heat transfer fluid from the vapor form to the liquid form and thereby to cool the shell to approximately the same temperature throughout its length. The cooling means can include a conduit or conduits running longitudinally inside the shell of the heat pipe and carrying a circulating coolant which can be a liquid or a gas. The substantially uniform cool surface temperature of the heat pipe adapts it for use as an efficient solar energy collector with the circulating coolant serving as a heat extracting medium. Alternatively, a row of photovoltaic cells may be mounted on the uniformly cool heat pipe shell and an elongated lens used to refract solar rays to impinge concentrated or high intensity solar energy onto the targets of such cells.

    摘要: A rotating heat pipe solar power generator is provided in which a heat pipe has a tube concentrically positioned within it to define an annular evaporation chamber, the tube being fixed to the pipe near one end thereof by the stator blades of a turbine. The heat pipe includes a large diameter evaporator section and a small diameter condenser section remote from the turbine. The tube extends into the entrance portion of the condenser section, and liquid is pumped into the evaporation chamber through an annular throat with a tapered annulus constituting the juncture between the two sections of the heat pipe, this throat serving as a centrifugal pump. The turbine is geared to the heat pipe so that both rotate.

    摘要: The invention is an apparatus for collecting and transporting thermal energy as vaporized fluid. The vapor will flow from a heat absorption chamber and through a conduit to a point of use where it is condensed. The heat absorption chamber includes a sump in its lower portion to hold a puddle of fluid. A heat source directed against the chamber vaporizes the fluid therewithin and a replacement fluid supply connects with the chamber to maintain the level of the puddle during vaporization. The chamber of the preferred embodiment of the invention is an elongated heat absorption pipe mounted horizontally to maintain the puddle at the lower portion of the pipe. The heat absorption pipe is mounted in a solar collector to receive concentrated solar energy as from a reflector system.
