    Abstract: The method comprises capturing a plurality of images of a single biometric object during a single activation of a biometric sensor and ranking the images based on a ranking metric value of each of the images to determine a highest ranked image and at least one non-highest ranked image. The method comprises comparing, in a first matching attempt for the biometric object, the highest ranked image to templates of a plurality of pre-stored biometric object templates, wherein a matching metric is determined for each compared template, and generating a match indicating signal when it is determined that at least one of the matching metrics exceeds a matching threshold value. When it is determined that none of the matching metrics exceed the matching threshold value, one of the non-highest ranked images is compared, in a further matching attempt, to templates of the plurality of templates based on the matching metrics.

    Abstract: A method for determining a finger motion on a fingerprint sensor comprising a sensing area, the method comprises: receiving a finger on the sensing area of the fingerprint sensor; when an amount of sensor area coverage caused by the finger touching the sensing area is below a coverage threshold, acquiring images of a first type using a first image acquisition setting with the fingerprint sensor, when the amount of sensor area coverage is equal to or exceeds the coverage threshold, acquiring images of a second type using a second image acquisition setting with the fingerprint sensor, and determining a present motion of the finger on the fingerprint sensor based on the first type of images or the second type of images depending on a present amount of sensor area coverage.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of reconstructing a fingerprint image from a plurality of fingerprint subimages captured by an optical microlens array fingerprint sensor, and a sensor system performing the method. In an aspect, a method of reconstructing a fingerprint image from a plurality of fingerprint subimages captured by an optical microlens array fingerprint sensor arranged under a touch-display of a device is provided. The method comprises capturing an image of a fingerprint with the fingerprint sensor, extracting, from the captured fingerprint image, a fingerprint subimage for each microlens in the array, normalizing the corrected fingerprint subimages with corresponding subimages of a uniformity calibration image with known uniformity properties, rotating the normalized fingerprint subimages 180 degrees while maintaining their relative position with respect to the captured fingerprint image from which the fingerprint subimages are extracted, and combining the rotated and normalized fingerprint subimages into a fingerprint image.

The display panel in turn comprises: a plurality of display pixels configured to emit visible light and controllable to form an image in the display; and a plurality of non-visible light emitting elements configured to emit linearly polarized non-visible light; a camera configured to receive polarized non-visible light having an orientation which is rotated with respect to the emitted linearly polarized light; and control circuitry configured to: activate the plurality of non-visible light emitting elements to emit linearly polarized light towards a biometric object; and control the camera to capture an image based on light reflected by the biometric object having a polarization which is rotated with respect to the emitted linearly polarized light.

    Abstract: There is provided a biometric imaging device configured to be arranged under an at least partially transparent display panel and configured to capture an image of an object in contact with an outer surface of the display panel.     Abstract: There is provided a fingerprint sensing module comprising a fingerprint sensor device having a sensing array arranged on a first side of the device, the sensing array comprising an array of fingerprint sensing elements. The fingerprint sensor device also comprises connection pads for connecting the fingerprint sensor device to external circuitry. The fingerprint sensing module further comprises a fingerprint sensor device cover structure arranged to cover the fingerprint sensor device, the cover structure having a first side configured to be touched by a finger, thereby forming a sensing surface of the sensing module, and a second side facing the sensing array, wherein the cover structure comprises conductive traces for electrically connecting the fingerprint sensor module to external circuitry, and wherein a surface area of the cover structure is larger than a surface area of the sensor device. Moreover, the fingerprint sensor device comprises wire-bonds electrically connecting the connection pads of the fingerprint sensing device to the conductive traces of the cover structure.
