    摘要: Wireless data services such as wireless email are becoming common, and in particular, “always-on” systems, where new email is automatically forwarded by the service provider to the wireless device. The problem is that there is no effective mechanism for implementing “always-on” systems when the user is moving around a network, or from one network to another. The invention addresses this problem by generating a session key at the service provider's system for a given data session, and returning this session key to the mobile device. Each time the mobile device communicates with the service provider, it enters this session key into a field that will simply pass through the communication network to the service provider. This allows the service provider to manage the data session, preparing proper accounting records and directing the deletion of stale data sessions on network resources.

    摘要: Systems and method for policy-based service management are provided. An exemplary system includes a rule definition interface module configured to receive a plurality of rule definitions and a separate policy management interface module configured to allow a user to define a rule instance from an existing rule definition instance and to define a policy instance based on the defined rule instance. A policy may be simply expressed via the policy management interface as “perform the following set of action if all of the following rule instances are true unless any of the following rule instances are true.” Additionally, policies may be associated with a context at a specific a level in a context hierarchy having multiple levels. The policy may therefore inherit rules from contexts at a higher level in the hierarchy.

    摘要: In an IP multimedia gateway, locations corresponding to communicatively coupled communication devices are determined and transmitted to a service provider device (SPD) that provides services to the communication devices. Communication devices receive location based service profiles from the (SPD) based on the determined locations. Services content from the (SPD) is communicated with the communication devices and/or with the (SPD), based on the profiles. The determined locations are received from communication devices which may be local or remote. A device location map is generated to be displayed by communication devices. The gateway may be integrated in an STB/DTV that displays the determined locations. Content is communicated to communication devices based on their location. The (SPD) may provide content and/or control information for communication device services. Locations are associated with client devices for detecting cloned client devices where determined locations are different than associated locations and/or for restricting services based on location.

    摘要: An IP multimedia gateway (IMG) may be operable to identify a client device which may not currently possess a security capability that is compatible with a security capability of a service manager for receiving a service from the service manager. A security process between the client device and the service manager may be enabled by the IMG to enable the client device to receive the service from the service manager. The client device may be local to the IMG or remote with respect to the IMG. The IMG may enable an authentication process between the client device and the service manager by performing authentication translation. The IMG may enable a cryptography process between the client device and the service manager by performing cryptography translation. The IMG may enable an authorization process for authorizing the client device to access a particular content by performing access control conversion.
