Abstract: A wireless power transmission method executed by a power transmitter comprising multi-coils, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: detecting a second power receiver while transmitting power to a first power receiver; determining at least one primary coil adequate for power transmission; by using the determined at least one primary coil, determining whether the second power receiver supports a shared mode protocol; and if the second power receiver supports the shared mode protocol, transmitting power to the first and second power receivers according to the shared mode protocol, wherein the shared mode protocol may be a protocol for simultaneously managing information exchanges between the power transmitter and multiple power receivers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a near field communication method and device in a wireless power transmission system. A wireless power receiving device comprises: a power pick-up circuit configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmitting device having a primary coil by magnetic coupling to the wireless power transmitting device at an operating frequency and convert an alternating current signal generated from the wireless power into a direct current signal; a communication circuit configured to perform in-band communication with the wireless power transmitting device by using the operating frequency and perform out-band communication with the wireless power transmitting device or another device by using a frequency other than the operating frequency; and a control circuit configured to control an overall operation of the wireless power receiving device, wherein a first connection parameter for out-band communication between the wireless power transmitting device and the wireless power receiving device can be set equal to a second connection parameter for out-band communication between the wireless power transmitting device and another wireless power receiving device.

In a one-to-multiple wireless power transfer system using a multi-coil, various applications of wireless power can be efficiently supported by defining configuration information, control information, management information, and procedures for the exchanges thereof as an out-band communication protocol.

Abstract: The present specification provides a wireless power reception apparatus comprising: a power pick-up unit configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmission apparatus by magnetic coupling with the wireless power transmission apparatus and convert an AC signal generated by the wireless power into a DC signal; a communication/control unit configured to receive the DC signal from the power pick-up unit and control the wireless power; and a load configured to receive the DC signal from the power pick-up unit. When foreign material is detected before power transmission, wireless power transmission is sustained on the basis of a safe basic power profile of 5 W or less, without interrupting power transmission, and thus, a charging delay can be prevented and the accuracy and reliability of detection of foreign material can be increased despite individual characteristics of the wireless power reception apparatus.

Irrespective of individual characteristics of a wireless power receiver, accuracy and reliability of detecting a foreign object may be improved.
