Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communications between a first UE and a second UE. The method includes, at the first UE, receiving, from the second UE, a paging indication message on a sidelink channel, the paging indication message associating the first UE with one or more resources of a common resource pool that includes a plurality of resources for communication on the sidelink channel. The method further includes, based on the received paging indication message, monitoring the one or more resources for a message from the second UE.

Abstract: Using a modulation and coding scheme for a control channel that is more conservative than needed to fulfill the control function may waste resources. To address this issue, a variable size control channel is provided. An apparatus in such a system may be configured to determine an aggregation level of a plurality of aggregation levels associated with a control channel. Each aggregation level of the plurality of aggregation levels is associated with a number of time-frequency resources dedicated for the control channel and a particular modulation and coding scheme used for modulating and coding control information in the control channel. The apparatus is configured to receive control information in the time-frequency resources associated with the aggregation level and decode the control information received in the time-frequency resources associated with the determined aggregation level. The decoding is based on the particular modulation and coding scheme associated with the determined aggregation level.

Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for sidelink communications. In embodiments, a processor of a wireless device may determine signal strength information and priority information associated with a sidelink communication resource. The processor may determine coordination information based on the determined signal strength information and priority information. The processor may generate a message to include the determined coordination information. The processor may transmit the generated message including the determined coordination information to a second wireless device. In some embodiments, the generated message may be a control message, such as a medium access control control-element (MAC-CE) or a sidelink control information message.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable mediums for wireless communication are disclosed by the present disclosure. In an example, a host wireless device may transmit a discovery message to a client wireless device. The client wireless device may transmit a random access channel (RACH) preamble on a first time domain resource to the host wireless device in response to the discovery message. The client wireless device may later transmit a second RACH message to the host device on a second time domain resource after the first time domain resource. The second time domain resource may be defined by a mapping from the first time domain resource. The host device may transmit a third RACH message establishing a communication session between the host wireless device and the client wireless device.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may detect an out-of-coverage scenario based at least in part on determining that a synchronization source associated with a wireless network is unavailable or has a signal strength that fails to satisfy a threshold. The UE may transmit, on a sidelink channel, a sidelink synchronization signal in a transmission period that includes a plurality of synchronization signal occasions based at least in part on the out-of-coverage scenario. In some aspects, the UE may transmit the sidelink synchronization signal according to a reduced duty cycle that causes the sidelink synchronization signal to be transmitted during fewer than all of the plurality of synchronization signal occasions. The base station may further be configured to transmit an indication of the detection time window to the plurality UEs on a cellular carrier to enable the UEs to detect a sidelink synchronization signal on the sidelink carrier within the detection time window and synchronize communication on the sidelink carrier.

According to another example, a wireless communication device can detect a reservation signal from another device, where the reservation signal is configured to reserve one or more sidelink resources, and transmit a sidelink transmission on at least a portion of the one or more of the sidelink resources reserved by the other device.
