    摘要: A monopulse receiver, wherein a desired wide dynamic range is achieved for range gated monopulse sum and difference signals, is shown to incorporate: (a) a multiplexer for time-multiplexing such signals; (b) a first and a second receiver channel responsive to the time-multiplexed signals, each such channel having a dynamic range less than the desired wide dynamic range and greater than one-half the desired wide dynamic range, the gains in such channels being offset so that together such channels have the desired dynamic range; (c) a first and a second sampler and analog-to-digital converter, respectively, responsive to the signals out of the first and the second receiver channel, for producing digital words indicative of the amplitude of each component signal in the time-multiplexed signals; and (d) logic and control means for forming bytes from predetermined portions of each one of the digital words and for selecting the byte indicative of the amplitude of each component signal.

    摘要: A phased array radar system, such as may be used in a low-angle tracking radar or direction finding equipment, includes a multi-channel digital filter to remove unwanted multipath signals. The R.F. signals from the array are first converted to zero I.F. and digitized. After n-channel Doppler filtering (13) the digital signals are subjected to filtering (14) either to effect band-pass spatial filtering, thereby attenuating generally all signals arriving outside preset angular limits, or notch filtering which heavily attenuates signals arriving from one particular angle. In one embodiment spatial filtering is followed by notch filtering. The filtered signals are then beam-formed (15) before being applied to further digital processing, such as beam peak tracking (16).

The product signal, which is proportional to the sine of the angle between the rolling axis and the line-of-sight to the target, is integrated in a limited-integrator whose output is summed with a pick-off signal from an onboard gyroscope. The sum signal determines the amount of the variable delay, while the output of the integrator controls the gyroscope to align it with the radar signal direction and the missile steering apparatus to home it on target.

    摘要: An airborne MTI radar system is disclosed for searching and tracking airborne targets over large bodies of water. In the search mode, returns from staggered PRF''s are used to resolve range ambiguity of targets, and first and second multipath returns are used to more positively identify an airborne target for automatic acquisition. The number of target returns counted (1, 2 or 3) at each PRF combined with the numbers at the other two PRF''s yields a plot combination count which serves to indicate the ''''quality'''' of a target in selecting new targets for tracking, but first each target is correlated with targets already being tracked. Uncorrelated targets are then checked as to quality by reordering the combination of target return counts in descending order and checking the resulting combination number, Qp, against a predetermined minimum acceptable plot quality, QM, for the range of the target and the sea state. If this check is passed by a particular target, it is entered into a table for automatic acquisition, provided the track store is not full to capacity; otherwise, the target is set up for display only for possible manual acquisition of track. Once acquired, the target is tracked automatically.

    摘要: A system for positioning an antenna of a tracking radar system, particularly of the type employing a driven beam reflector of the type utilized in a cassegrain antenna system, without the use of rate gyros. A target line-of-sight error signal representing the error between the radar beam line-of-sight and the target lineof-sight in a line-of-sight coordinate system is generated and then referenced to a fixed coordinate system. In a radar system employing an antenna having an axis system corresponding to the beam line-of-sight axis system, the line-of-sight error signal is referenced to the fixed coordinate system by first referencing the error signal to an aircraft axis system and then to the fixed coordinate system to obtain a fixed coordinate referenced error signal. The fixed coordinate referenced line-of-sight error signal may then be employed to generate fixed coordinate referenced line-of-sight error rate and position signals through the use of a predetermined transfer function and an integrator having a predetermined, fixed coordinate system referenced constant of integration. The line-of-sight position signals referenced to the fixed coordinate system may then be used to generate antenna angular pointing error signals which may be used to drive the antenna in a direction tending to null the line-ofsight error signal. In a system employing a driven beam reflecting element such as in a cassegrain system, the rotation affect of the reflector on the beam is taken into account in referencing the line-of-sight error signals to the fixed coordinate system. Moreover, the complex relationship between beam position and reflector position is accounted for in transforming to and from the fixed coordinate system. A method and system for generating line-of-sight angular rate signals for use in fire control systems is also disclosed.

    摘要: A radar array is aimed to receive a signal directly reflected from a target as well as an image signal reflected from the target and from the adjoining ground surface or sea surface. An ambiguity introduced in the direct signal by the image signal, is resolved by a system which includes independent steering means and beam forming networks to form sum and difference signals from the image and the direct signals. These signals are mixed by computer controlled mixing networks to provide modified sum and difference signals. When the antenna pointing angle coincides with the target elevation angle, the modified direct sum and difference signals are uncontaminated by the image signals and vice versa. A composite error signal is obtained from the modified signals whose polarity is an indication of the error of the pointing angle. This signal is used to drive the steering mechanism into alignment with the direct path where a zero or null error signal is produced corresponding to the correct elevation angle of the target.
