Abstract: An image processing apparatus and method are provided which quantifies sharpness of one or more areas in an image. The sharpness processing includes acquiring an image from an image capturing apparatus, obtaining an object information characterizing a position of an object within the captured image, and controlling, based on a sharpness of each of a plurality of regions identified within the captured image according to the object information, an unit such that a sharpness information representing a numeric value regarding a sharpness of the captured image is displayed with the captured image.

Abstract: A medical device, system, and methods of using the medical device and system are provided. Embodiments of the disclosure include a medical apparatus including a bendable body having a driving wire configured in the bendable body. A distal end of a break-out wire is attached to a proximal end of the driving wire where a distal guide tube guiding the driving wire, the distal tube ending before the break-out wire with a space. A resilient element abutting the driving wire along at least a portion of a longitudinal direction of the driving wire, and expands or contracts along the longitudinal direction of the driving wire. An actuator retracts and advances the driving wire via the break-out wire and maneuvers the bendable body, wherein the resilient element stays within the space between a proximal end of the distal guide tube and the distal end of the break-out wire.

Abstract: A method and system have been provided to perform high speed nucleic acid melting analysis while still obtaining accurate melting curve sufficient for genotyping. This rapid ability to interrogate DNA should be useful whenever time to result is important, such as in molecular point of care testing. Specifically, microfluidics enables genotyping by melting analysis at rates up to 50° C./s, requiring less than is to acquire an entire melting curve. High speed melting reduces the time for melting analysis, decreases errors, and improves genotype discrimination of small amplicons.

Abstract: The present application relates to a flexible manipulator including at least one flexible member (bend) controlled by an input device in the form of a joystick. Specifically, to prevent the flexible manipulator inserted into a narrow space from contacting surrounding objects, the flexible manipulator according to the present invention is configured to maintain the shape when the operator releases the joystick. However, when the flexible manipulator is shaped to be at a target position and subsequently needs to be returned to the original shape, the operator manipulates the joystick using complicated and time consuming manipulation techniques. A control device in communication with the flexible manipulator is configured to allow the operator to select an input method for maintaining the shape of the flexible manipulator after the joystick is released. In addition, an input method for returning the flexible manipulator to the original shape may be selected. This enables the operator to use an appropriate input method in accordance with the purpose of a medical procedure.
