    摘要: A digital image capture and processing system providing a high degree of adaptability to ambient illumination levels and having great dynamic range. The system includes a multi-mode illumination subsystem, having an active illumination mode and a passive illumination mode. During object illumination and image capturing operations, the exposure quality of a captured digital image is analyzed, and based on the results of such exposure quality analysis, system control parameters are automatically reconfigured. In the event that the exposure quality analysis indicates excessive exposure levels in a captured digital image, then a new set of SCPs is reconfigured, controlling the multi-mode illumination subsystem to operate in its passive illumination mode, whereby, ambient illumination flooding the field of view forms digital images in the image detection array during s object illumination and imaging operations.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for imaging a target, includes a housing having a presentation area, a solid-state imaging sensor having an imaging array of image sensors looking at a field of view that extends through the presentation area to the target, and an imaging lens assembly for capturing return light over the field of view from the target through the presentation area, and for projecting the captured return light onto the imaging array during imaging of the target. The assembly has a plurality of lenses, an aperture stop, and a holder for holding the lenses and the aperture stop in spaced relation along an optical axis. The aperture stop has a non-rotationally symmetrical aperture through which the optical axis extends. Alignment elements on the imaging lens assembly are used to align the non-rotationally symmetrical aperture with the imaging array.

    摘要: A solid-state imager is mounted in a reader, such as a bi-optical, dual window, point-of-transaction workstation, for capturing light along an optical axis over a field of view from coded indicia. An optical assembly including non-rotationally symmetrical optics is operative for optically modifying and asymmetrically magnifying an image of the indicia and the field of view of the imager along mutually orthogonal directions generally perpendicular to the optical axis, and for increasing resolution of the imager along one of the directions. Preferably, the non-rotationally symmetrical optics includes a cylindrical lens having an aspherical profile along the one direction, and a planar profile along the other of the directions.
