Abstract: Optical system includes front group, light-shielding member, and rear group that are arranged in this order in direction from object side toward image side. The light-shielding member is provided with opening elongated in first direction. The front group has aspherical surfaces, does not image the object at the opening in first section parallel to the first direction, and forms intermediate image of the object at the opening in second section perpendicular to the first direction. The rear group has diffractive surface that splits light beam that passes through the opening into light beams at different wavelengths in the second section and focuses the light beams on different locations in the second section. Tilt angles of the aspherical surfaces in the second section change in the first direction.

Abstract: Aspect ratio modifying imaging systems and methods are provided. In one example, an infrared imaging device includes at least one lens element configured to transmit electromagnetic radiation associated with a portion of a scene. The portion has a first aspect ratio. The electromagnetic radiation includes mid-wave and/or long-wave infrared light. The at least one lens element has a freeform surface having no translational symmetry and no rotational symmetry. The infrared imaging device further includes a detector array configured to receive image data associated with the electromagnetic radiation from the at least one lens element and generate, based on the image data, an image. The image data has a second aspect ratio different from the first aspect ratio. Each of the first and second aspect ratios is a ratio of a size along a first direction and a size along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction.

Abstract: Lens assemblies according to the disclosure include an anamorphic lens component and a primary lens component. The anamorphic lens component includes a first cylindrical lens element, a second cylindrical lens element, and a first spherical lens element disposed between the first and second cylindrical lens elements and translatable along an optical axis of the anamorphic lens assembly with respect to the first and second cylindrical lens elements. Optical characteristics of the anamorphic lens component are adjustable as the first spherical lens element translates along the optical axis such that the first cylindrical lens element, the first spherical lens element, and the second cylindrical lens element in combination produce a first astigmatism that is opposite to a second astigmatism produced in an image plane by the primary lens component as an object moves from infinity focus toward the lens assembly.

Abstract: A vehicle headlamp device is disclosed that is capable of projecting driving information onto the road using a high beam and of improving visibility of an image containing the driving information projected onto the road. Specifically, as the result of adjusting the color of the image suitable for the driving information projected onto the road, the driver is capable of more easily perceiving the driving information due to the image having a specific color corresponding to the driving information. In addition, as the result of correcting an anamorphically-enlarged image using an anamorphic lens, the image containing the driving information is projected onto the road more clearly.
