Abstract: Embodiments of a radially collapsible and expandable prosthetic heart valve are disclosed. A valve frame can have a tapered profile when mounted on a delivery shaft, with an inflow end portion having a smaller diameter than an outflow end portion. The valve can comprise generally V-shaped leaflets, reducing material within the inflow end of the frame. An outer skirt can be secured to the outside of the inflow end portion of the frame, the outer skirt having longitudinal slack when the valve is expanded and lying flat against the frame when the valve is collapsed. A diagonally woven inner skirt can elongate axially with the frame. Side tabs of adjacent leaflets can extend through and be secured to window frame portions of the frame to form commissures. The window frame portions can be depressed radially inward relative to surrounding frame portions when the valve is crimped onto a delivery shaft.

Abstract: A method is provided for pre-stretching implantable biocompatible materials, such as material to be incorporated into an implantable device. A sheet of implantable biocompatible material is attached to one or more tensioning members, where tension is applied along one or more axes. Tension is applied for a period of time, and at an appropriate force, to produce a desired degree of thinning or pre-stretching of the implantable biocompatible material. During the tensioning, the implantable biocompatible material is maintained at an elevated temperature, such as a temperature that is at least substantially a temperature of an environment into which the material will be implanted.

Abstract: A cardiac device comprises a first anchoring element configured to be attached to a first side of a tissue wall, a second anchoring element configured to be attached to a second side of the tissue wall, and a cinching device. The cinching device is configured to attach to the first anchoring element and the second anchoring element and apply force to the first anchoring element to move the first anchoring element towards the second anchoring element and at least partially compress the tissue wall.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of delivery capsules for delivering prosthetic implants around the relatively tight bends of a catheter. In particular, disclosed herein are delivery capsules including a tubular layer for holding the heart valve, a frame enclosing the tubular layer and an elongate element coupled to the frame for allowing the tubular layer and frame to expand. For example, the frame may be biased to expand and withdrawal of the elongate element from openings in the frame can release the frame to expand into a larger diameter. Another embodiment includes a helical wire wrapped around the capsule for easy delivery through bends and a second helical wire that is advanced between windings of the first helical wire to selectively stiffen the capsule for withdrawal. Other embodiments include sock-like capsules that can be crumpled into shorter lengths by pulling a pull line attached to the capsule.
