    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate than a 4G communication system such as LTE. The disclosure proposes a method and an apparatus for initial access of a reduced capability terminal. The method comprises receiving, from a base station, information on an initial bandwidth part (BWP) for the redcap terminal; and transmitting and receiving, to or from the base station, data on the initial BWP for the redcap terminal, wherein the information on the initial BWP for the redcap terminal is included in a system information block 1, and wherein the information on the initial BWP for the redcap terminal includes information on a frequency location of the initial BWP for the redcap terminal, subcarrier spacing information and cyclic prefix information of the initial BWP for the redcap terminal.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a 5th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate after a 4th generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Various embodiments of the present disclosure propose a method for performing beam operation in consideration of a communication environment in a sidelink. According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, by proposing a method for performing beam operation when sidelink communication operates at a high frequency, coverage may be improved. According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, an operating method of a first terminal in a wireless communication system is provided, the method comprising the steps of: establishing a connection with a second terminal; periodically transmitting a sidelink channel state information reference signal (SL CSI-RS) to the second terminal; receiving, from the second terminal, preferred beam information on the basis of the SL CSI-RS; transmitting a signal to the second terminal with a beam formed on the basis of the beam information; and receiving acknowledgement/not-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) information for the signal from the second terminal.

The disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. A method of a terminal of a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station, downlink control information (DCI) for scheduling of data transmission/reception, checking priority information related to the DCI, based on the priority information, determining whether to perform data transmission/reception scheduled according to the DCI, and if the data transmission/reception is determined to be performed, performing the data transmission/reception, wherein the priority information is indicated by a priority information field in the DCI, is a value configured by higher layer signaling, or is related to a format of the DCI.

A method for improving the coverage of an uplink channel for uplink transmission is provided.
