摘要: A programmable system for controlling the operation of a plunger completion oil or gas production well to optimize production from the well. The controller operates one or more motor valves controlling the well in accordance with programmable values of off-time, on-time and exhaust-time. The controller monitors whether or not a plunger arrival signal is received on each cycle of intermitting the well and changes either the off-time or the exhaust-time for the next cycle in response thereto. In oil well mode, the off-time is decreased slightly for each cycle following a cycle in which plunger arrival occurred and increased slightly for each cycle following one in which it did not. In gas well mode, the exhaust-time is increased slightly for each cycle following a cycle in which plunger arrival occurred before on-time expired and decreased slightly for each cycle following one in which it did not.

摘要: The present invention discloses a simplified solid state controller for flexible use in controlling many individual watering stations that make up an automatic irrigation system. The operator input panel provides switches the operator can use to initiate a number of parameterization logic sequences for the controller system. Through the input panel, the operator can cause the stored information data to be displayed and to be selectively advanced to a new desired value on a step-by-step basis. When the newly displayed value equals the value desired by the operator, the operator signals the logic of the controller through the input panel and the current, stored value is updated to the displayed value. Once entered, the signals are stored in memory and acted upon automatically at the times specified to activate various individual irrigation valves at the times, and on the days, and for the duration, so stored.

摘要: Simplified battery operated automatic and manually operable valves for use in sprinkler systems and the like are disclosed. The valves are operable from a latching actuator controlled through a microcomputer programmed to turn the valve on and off at a specific time of the day. For purposes of programming the system once batteries are in place, the user simply pushes an on/off button at the desired turn on time of the day, at which time the valve will turn on. At the same time, the time of the turn on occurrence will be retained in memory. Similarly a subsequent operation of the same switch will turn off the valve and cause the storage in memory of the corresponding turn off time. Thereafter, the valve will automatically turn on and turn off at those programmed times on each subsequent day, or on such days as are commanded by control of a manually operated switch or as permanently wired. A mechanical override allows the turning on and turning off of a valve independent of the operation of the automatic control to allow operating the valves without disturbing the programming thereof, or of turning off the valve in the event of some failure after the valve is turned on. Alternate embodiments are disclosed.

摘要: An apparatus for controlling the volume of flow of a gas. A reference volume has an input conduit connected to the source of gas and an output conduit connected to a utilization device. Valves in the input and output conduits are cyclically controlled to permit pressure in the reference volume to reach a high and then to attain a low. The reference volume pressure is measured twice during each cycle to provide voltages representative of the high and low pressures. Circuit means control the time and duration of operation of the valves to cause the difference between the high and low pressures to equal a predetermined value.

摘要: A control valve for irrigation and other purposes comprising an actuator mounted for rotation along a path, a motor for moving the actuator along the path, and first and second pilot valves located at first and second stations, respectively, along the path. As the actuator moves along the path, it sequentially engages the pilot valves and holds them in a first position. An adjustable selector is provided at each of the stations for controlling the length of time that the actuator holds the associated pilot valve in the first position to thereby control each of the pilot valves. The pilot valves are used to control main valves.

摘要: A solid state, digital control system is disclosed for individually timing and sequentially operating a number of electrically controllable devices such as remote control valves and pumps for irrigation systems. In one embodiment, the digital control system comprises clock circuits (10) which produce at least two pulses, a first or daily pulse produced at the beginning of a day and a second or alarm pulse produced at a preselected time. The daily pulse is counted by a first counter (20) and the alarm pulse is counted by a second counter (22). A plurality of outputs (24) are individually actuated on successive days by first counter (20) and are selectively applied by controllable switches (131-144) to an inhibit input (32) of second counter (22) whenever the sequential operation of the devices is not desired on a particular day. A plurality of output control circuits (38) are individually connected to the outputs (26) of second counter (22) and controlled by the court therein. Each of the output circuits (38) is connectable to a device to be controlled thereby. Also connected to outputs (26) is control logic (42) that is also responsive to the count in second counter (22). Control logic (42) in turn controls the generation of a pulse by a pulse generator (44) after a selectable time delay that can differ for each device being controlled. The output of a pulse generator (44) is connected to a clock input of second counter (22), thereby changing the count therein. Thus the device controlled by output control circuits (38) is changed after the preselected operation time of the previously controlled device has expired.

摘要: A device for controlling actuators by pneumatic pulses includes a casing having an inlet for vacuum pulses and an outlet connectable to an actuator. A control wheel is rotatably mounted in the casing and has a plurality of indentations therein. A plunger is disposed in a chamber in the casing and is sealingly guided for movement from a normal rest position wherein the plunger is engaged with one of the indentations to a retracted position when the chamber is evacuated, wherein the plunger is engaged with a successive indentation. Rotation of the control wheel is effected when the plunger returns to the rest position. Fluid communication is provided between the inlet and the outlet and between the inlet and the chamber in the casing through the control wheel to control the supply of vacuum pulses to the outlet and to the chamber in dependence on the angular position of the control wheel.

摘要: A controller which can be set to operate a group of sprinkler control valves, which can be easily set and tested for proper automatic operation, and which can operate a sprinkler system in a variety of ways. The controller includes a clock, a series of dividers for dividing down the frequency of the clock, and a group of controls that can be operated to begin sprinkling cycles at predetermined times and close the sprinkling control valves after predetermined durations. A selector control can be utilized to effectively increase the frequency of the clock, as by bypassing a divider stage, to operate the system at a very rapid rate, which is useful in testing the system for automatic operation after it is set and for repetitive short duration sprinkling cycles. The controller has a cascade input that enables the beginning of a cycle of operation by an external signal, to permit repeated cycling of the system, and to synchronize a group of controllers.

摘要: A heat engine which the steady burning of liquid or gaseous fuel in a combustion chamber, external to the engine cylinders, is converted to mechanical work by means of expansion of the combustion gases in the engine cylinders. A pair of series inlet poppet valves is provided per engine cylinder so phased to provide a short interval period of gas admission to each cylinder for making the expansion ratio substantially equal to the compression ratio for maximum efficiency. The poppet valves, whose angular interval when they are both open are varied by an amount inversely proportional to the combustor pressure. The gas pressure forces acting on the poppet valves are counterbalanced to permit their actuation by conventional cams and valve gear without excessive cam loads and wear.
