Abstract:
The invention relates to a milk foaming device with a mixing chamber, which is arranged downstream of a steam supply pipe and which is connected to a milk and/or milk/air supply pipe, and a discharge device for the mixture arranged downstream of the mixing chamber, which has a number of discharge channels. The emitted milk foam flow is to be improved. To achieve this the discharge openings of the discharge channels are sloped at an angle to the cross-sectional plane of the discharge channel and the slope angles of the discharge openings of the discharge channels have the same vertex.
Abstract:
An improved method and apparatus for pasteurizing filled food containers having contents to be pasteurized includes spraying a heat transfer fluid onto the containers. As the contents increase in temperature, the flow rate of heat transfer fluid is decreased. The heat transfer fluid is at least about 20° F. hotter than the initial average temperature of the contents. In one embodiment, the temperature of the spent heat transfer fluid typically does not vary more than about 6° F. to 9° F.
Abstract:
In general, one embodiment of the invention is directed to apparatus for warming pre-cooked sandwich buns and the like to a desired holding temperature and then holding the buns at such holding temperature. The apparatus comprises a cabinet having at least one compartment with a bottom wall, a top wall and opposite side walls. Adjacent the bottom of the compartment is at least one heat source for delivering heat to buns in the compartment. A control mechanism controls the heat source to deliver heat to the buns to warm the buns to the desired holding temperature and then to vary the amount of heat delivered to the buns to hold the buns at the desired holding temperature. A related method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A steamer for steaming and/or steam cleaning an object. The steamer includes a reservoir for containing a liquid therein, a pressurized boiler system for generating steam under pressure from a portion of the liquid in the reservoir, a thermostatic control device for controlling a flow rate of the liquid delivered from the reservoir to the pressurized boiler system, and at least one steam output discharge port having a variable aperture size in fluid communication with the output of the pressurized boiler system.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pressurization device, in particular of the type used for high hydrostatic pressure. More particularly, the present invention relates to a pressurization device (1) comprising a casing (4) provided with a closure (3) and housing a pressurization chamber (15), the device (1) being provided with pressurization means for putting the pressurization chamber (15) under pressure, characterized in that the pressurization chamber (15) is sealed by means of a plurality of annular seals (19a, 19b, 19c) arranged in series on the lateral surface of the pressurization chamber (15) at predetermined relative distances (D1, D2) which are correlated with the coefficient of compressibility of the liquid filling the pressurization chamber (15).
Abstract:
An object is subjected to high-pressure processing by bringing at least a high-pressure fluid into contact with the object under pressure in a high-pressure processing chamber, and then the high-pressure processing chamber is depressurized while the temperature in the chamber is controlled to be maintained above a temperature achieved by an adiabatic expansion, the adiabatic expansion starting from the pressure and temperature at the end of the high-pressure processing step. To control in such a way, the temperature in the high-pressure processing chamber is controlled so as to suppress or recover a temperature descent caused by an adiabatic expansion during the depressurizing step. This solves a problem in which the temperature is decreased to the vapor-liquid phase coexistence region or a region in which a solid is deposited.
Abstract:
A modular food dehydrator utilizing a heater blower assembly located on a top surface of a dehydrator module is disclosed. The heater blower assembly includes a motor driven fan, a heating element and an air distribution portion for directing heated air across the support surfaces. The heater blower assembly is preferably releasably attachable to the dehydrator module. In a first embodiment, the dehydrator module has a central opening extending generally vertically through the support surfaces in fluid communication with the heater blower assembly for directing heated air radially outward across the plurality of support surfaces. The dehydrator module preferably includes outlet vents on an outer perimeter surface for exhausting the heated air. At least one outlet vent is preferably located between each of the plurality of support surfaces. In a second embodiment, the dehydrator module includes air ducts on an outer perimeter surface in fluid communication with the heater blower assembly for directing pressurized, heated air radially inward across the plurality of support surfaces. The dehydrator module includes a central opening extending generally vertically through the support surfaces in fluid communication with a space between each the support surfaces for exhausting or recirculating heated air. In a third embodiment, the heater blower assembly is housed within the cover to provide a more compact unit.
Abstract:
Apparatus for the treatment of animal feedstuff prior to pelletizing thereof comprising a conditioning vessel and at least one sterilization vessel, each of which is in the form of a cylindrical drum, means for feeding the material to be treated through the conditioning vessel where steam or other a additive can be applied, means for passing material from the conditioning vessel to the sterilization vessel or vessels and means for discharging material from the sterilization vessel or vessels after a required residence time therein, said conditioning vessel and said sterilization vessel or vessels being arranged in spaced apart relationship and connected by walls to form an integral structure having a single chamber between said vessels through which a heating medium may be passed, thus to heat the contents of both the conditioning vessel and the or each sterilization vessel.
