摘要： An improved vapor-seal, child-resistant closure and container combination is disclosed herein. The container comprises a cylindrical plastic body which is molded in one piece and has circumferentially spaced, radially extending projections on the upper end thereof that have notches therein. The closure comprises a one-piece plastic body having a top panel and an annular depending skirt with circumferentially spaced lugs extending radially inwardly for engagement with the notches. An annular integral rim or abutment is provided on the annular surface of the top panel of the closure and depends downwardly therefrom. A unique two-piece, vapor-seal liner is interposed between the annular abutment and the lugs for engagement with the upper end of the container. The two-piece liner incorporates a resilient disk member which serves as a spring between the closure and container and a deformable disk positioned beneath the resilient disk which may be pressed into sealing engagement with the upper rim of the container to provide a vapor-tight seal between the closure and container.

摘要： A child resistant safety closure and container assembly of the type including a cap having locking lugs projecting from its skirt for engagement with complementary bayonet locking elements on the container. A combined spring and sealing member is carried by the cap to resiliently maintain the cap and container in locked engagement, and provide a moisture proof seal. The spring and sealing member includes a plunger having a cylindrical base portion concentric with a cylindrical sealing wall. A plurality of radial stiffening members extend between the base portion and the inner end of the cylindrical sealing wall. In one embodiment, the stiffening members are in the form of ribs molded integrally to the side wall. In another embodiment, the stiffening members are in the form of flutes molded into the side wall.

摘要： A pail assembly, preferably all plastic, is provided in which a pail has peripherally spaced pail lugs on its side wall adjacent the rim of the pail. The pail lugs have an inclined cam surface at one end and a bearing surface substantially parallel to the rim along a margin remote from the rim. A lid has an internal annular skirt on and integral with it, of a shape and outside diameter complementary to the inside surface of the pail side wall adjacent the rim so that the skirt and pail surface engage one another snugly when the lid is rotated into mounted condition on the pail. The lid has an annular flange integral with it, spaced radially outboardly of the skirt and defining with the skirt a channel having a closed bottom wall and an open mouth. A plurality of peripherally spaced, radially inwardly extending lugs are formed integrally with the flange. They are spaced axially outwardly from the closed bottom wall of the channel and are of a peripheral length less than the space between successive pail lugs with which the flange lugs are to engage. Sealing means, preferably an annular tubular gasket, are provided between the channel bottom wall and the rim of the pail, the sealing means being in compression when the pail lug bearing surface and flange lug bearing surface are engaged by a turn of the required number of degrees.

摘要： A container has a neck defined by a cylindrical wall having a planar lip and a frusto-conical interior surface, with the neck opening reducing in diameter toward the interior of the container. The safety cap is cup-shaped having a planar top wall and cylindrical side wall, and having an inner dependent cylindrical skirt concentric with the side wall, the skirt being resilient and disposed to engage the container conical wall in assembled relation. Coacting ratchet lugs extend from the external surface of the container wall and the internal surface of the cap side wall, and are normally urged into engagement to prevent relative rotation of the container and cap by the spring action of the cap skirt and container conical wall. The ratchet lugs have coacting inclined cam surfaces which, in response to rotation of the cap in one direction, force axial inward movement of the cap to move its top wall contiguous to the container lip; and the container wall and cap have interfering latch means which inhibit reverse rotation from this contiguous position.

摘要： A safety cap and container is disclosed which is resistant to accidental opening. Such a cap and container include cooperating ratchet means on the cap and the container which normally hold the cap against undesired movement with respect to the container. A tapered internal surface is provided in the container and an internal resilient dependent member is provided on the cap so as to engage the tapered surface. Such engagement normally holds the ratchet means so that the cap cannot be moved with respect to the container. When, however, pressure is applied to the cap above the dependent member, this member is deflected by the tapered surface so as to allow movement of the cap so as to disengage the ratchet means, permitting the cap to be removed from the container.

摘要： For poisonous or otherwise hazardous materials, an enclosure or enclosing package comprises a main container body and a tightly engaging closure or stopper therefor. The main container and the closure are provided with mutually interlocking means, the operation of which is relatively complex for illiterate children but relatively simple for adults who follow operating instructions, preferably printed on the stopper. The stopper or closure is preferably a two-piece structure, comprising a resilient seal which is rotatable but held captive within a carrier cap. For opening, the carrier cap must be rotated with respect to the main body, normally by the user''s palm, in a specified direction while it is simultaneously depressed towards the main body and against the resilient reaction of the seal which tends to push the carrier away from the main body. To operate in closing, essentially the reverse procedure is followed, except that the applied torque is opposite to that of opening. The stopper or closure is designed to provide a very limited peripheral surface area for gripping by a child''s hands or teeth. A ring is fixed to the container to simulate in position and appearance the rim of a conventional screw cap, diverting efforts to its attempted removal rather than removal of the stopper from within this ring. Locking elements on the carrier engage the sides of slotted portions in an annular web which joins the ring to the main container body. In the two-piece stopper, separate pieces are each provided with an annular bearing surface of relatively small radius so that the torque required to release the closure from the body is minimal, even when the applied axial force is substantial, as it must be for safety.
