Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for maintaining alignment of an articulated medical device which allows a reference element or reference trajectory to be set at a location within a subject. A medical tool can be guided through the device and facilitating medical procedures, including endoscopes, cameras, and biopsy tools, to a target when the articulated medical device is subjected to external forces that cause a deviation in the trajectory towards the target.

Abstract: A medical cart apparatus includes at least one component and at least one holster that is tilted with respect to a horizontal plane and is configured to hold or store the at least one component. The medical cart apparatus is ergonomic and conveniently and securely stores elements in the cart. The holster is configured as a storage area, holder, or receptacle, and the holster has a back wall, at least one side, at least one side cut-out, a lip at an entrance of the holster, and a bottom surface that is tilted at the angle with respect to the horizontal plane. The side cut-outs of the holster provide visibility by showing whether a component is in the holster or not, and provide accessibility by facilitating or allowing easy insertion and easy takeout of the at least one component from the holster.

Abstract: A steerable medical instrument, such as a catheter or endoscope, comprises a tubular body having non-steerable section and steerable sections arranged from a proximal end to a distal end thereof. The tubular body defines a tool channel and a plurality of wire conduits formed along the wall of the tubular body. The steerable section includes wire-guiding members arranged in lengthwise direction alternated with void regions. A control wire arranged in a first conduit within the wall of the tubular body is connected to an actuator and transfers an actuating force to bend the steerable section. An electrical cable arranged along the wall of the tubular body has strain relief elements. The strain relief elements are portions of the cable arranged in at least one void region and configured to freely move within the void regions to provide strain relief to the electrical cable when the tubular body bends.

Abstract: A system configured to control an endoscope probe either in manual mode or in robotic mode. The system comprises: a handle at a proximal end of the probe; a handheld controller attachable to the handle; and a robotic controller in communication with the handle and/or the handheld controller. The handheld controller includes separate controls for the manual and robotic modes. In manual mode, the handheld controller combined with the handle and the probe is used to manually control insertion and actuation of the probe into a first location of a lumen. In robotic mode, the handheld controller is removed from the handle, and the robotic controller controls handle to robotically navigate the probe to a second location within the lumen. Attachment and detachment of handheld controller to the handle is such that only certain controls appropriate to a particular portion of a workflow are accessible to the user.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided. Some embodiments include obtaining image data of a subject and a medical device, the medical device including fiducial markers, wherein the image data includes three-dimensional image data. Information is generated representing a three-dimensional shape based on a planned insertion point for performing a medical procedure. A cropping process is applied to the image data to generate cropped image data based on the three-dimensional shape. In some embodiments, the cropped image data includes image data of at least two of the fiducial markers. Fiducial marker objects are detected within the cropped image data, and the fiducial marker objects are registered by matching a model of the fiducial markers with the fiducial marker objects.
