Abstract: Optical fiber connectors configured to allow ease of change of the connector polarity by providing lockable outer housing. In an embodiment, an optical fiber connector comprises an inner housing, at least one key configured to move along the inner housing so as to change a polarity of said optical fiber connector, and an outer housing disposed around at least a portion of the inner housing and configured to slide in a longitudinal direction so as to expose at least a portion of said at least one key, wherein the outer housing includes a flexible portion configured to lock to the inner housing so as to retain the outer housing in a pulled back position relative to the inner housing. A removable alignment key is reattached to the connector to correspond to a first or second polarity.

Abstract: Low profile optical fiber connectors comprising a ferrule, a plug frame configured to receive the ferrule, and an outer housing configured to receive the plug frame. The outer housing may be configured to protrude less than about 2 mm from one end of an adapter when the low profile optical fiber connector is inserted into the adapter. The connector may include a boot sized such that the boot protrudes from the end of the adapter by less than about 15 mm. The low profile connector does not contain a bias spring to urge the ferrule forward out of plug frame housing.

Abstract: Narrow width fiber optic connectors having spring loaded remote release mechanisms to facilitate access and usage of the connectors in high density arrays. A narrow width fiber optic connector comprises a multi-fiber connector, wherein a width of said narrow width fiber optic connector is less than about 5.25 mm, a housing configured to hold the multi-fiber connector and further comprising a connector recess, and a pull tab having a ramp area configured to disengage a latch of one of an adapter and an SFP from said connector recess. The pull tab may include a spring configured to allow the latch of one of the adapter and the SFP to engage with the connector recess.

Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a Network system including: a connector comprising a housing comprising a groove running widthwise on a surface of the housing; and a push-pull tab comprising a complementary groove, wherein the push-pull tab is detachably connected to the housing; and a receiver device comprising one or more ports for receiving the connector, the one or more ports having an interchangeable anchor device including a first portion and a second portion; wherein the groove is configured to receive the first portion of the interchangeable anchor device when the connector is inserted into the receiving element, and wherein the complimentary groove is configured to receive the second portion of the interchangeable anchor device when the connector is inserted into the receiving element, the push-pull tab being configured to disengage the second portion of the interchangeable anchor device from the complementary groove when the push-pull tab is moved in a direction away from the connector, thereby disengaging the first portion of the interchangeable anchor device from the grove of the connector. Abstract: A multiple fiber push-on (MPO) optical connector is provided having a ferrule configured to house multiple optical fibers and including a stepped portion extending from at least one pair of opposing exterior surfaces of the ferrule. A one-piece housing-backpost is provided having a distal end in a connection direction and a proximal end in a cable direction. The one-piece housing-backpost is configured to receive a ferrule spring and the ferrule from the distal end. The housing-backpost includes at least one resiliently-deformable ferrule-retaining protrusion extending from a sidewall to engage a corresponding stepped portion of the ferrule. The resiliently-deformable ferrule-retaining protrusion is configured to deform towards the housing-backpost interior sidewall as the ferrule is inserted from the distal end and to extend outward against the stepped portion of the ferrule when the ferrule is seated in the housing-backpost to maintain the ferrule in the housing-backpost.

Abstract: An optical fiber connector includes an optical fiber ferrule and a single-piece housing in which the ferrule is received. The housing can be installed in an adapter to make an optical connection. A rotational locking mechanism has a rotor mounted on the housing for rotation with respect the housing about a rotational axis. The rotor can be rotated between a locked position and an unlocked position. The rotational locking mechanism is configured to inhibit the housing from being withdrawn from the adapter in the locked position of the rotor and to permit the housing to be withdrawn from the adapter in the unlocked position, and further comprising a guide pin, wherein the housing comprises an integral guide pin retainer configured to hold the guide pin in place on the housing.

Abstract: An optical fiber connector assembly comprises at least one connector having a latching arm for coupling to an adapter, and a remote release tab having a protrusion configured to cooperate with the adapter to depress said latching arm when the remote release tab is pulled relative to the adapter. The optical fiber connector assembly may further be configured to have a deformable region at one end of the pull tab operatively connector to the latch arm assembly for releasing the connector from the adapter.

Abstract: A multiple push-on (MPO) optical connector is provided having a ferrule configured to house multiple optical fibers and a housing having a distal end in a connection direction configured to hold the ferrule. The housing further includes a pair of proximal apertures and at least one proximal groove. A backpost has a distal end that urges the ferrule toward the distal end of the housing and a proximal end configured to receive a crimp ring. The backpost includes a pair of proximally extending latch arms that reverse latch in the proximal apertures of the housing. To strengthen the connector in side-loading environments, the backpost further includes a reinforcing rib that is received in the housing proximal groove. In a further aspect, the proximal end of the backpost may include a neck with an approximately curved side profile that, following crimping with a stepped crimp ring, results in an angled crimp.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a device and system of devices including: a connector comprising a housing comprising a groove lengthwise in a surface of the housing and a push-pull tab comprising a protrusion, a widthwise recess on the connector housing accepting protrusions on a removable anchor device that retains the connector in a port, wherein the push-pull tab releases the connector from the port using protrusions on the anchor device and the receiver device comprising one or more ports for receiving one or more connector types; and the receiver device comprising one or more ports without an anchor; said port secures a second connector type comprising a latch release mechanism; and the receiver device ports are opposite one another; wherein the opposite ports can accept a first connector and a second connector; wherein the first connector release mechanism and differs from the second connector release mechanism.
