Abstract: Methods and systems for a networked storage environment are provided. One method includes splitting, by a first node, a payload into a plurality of data packets, each data packet having a portion of the payload indicated by an offset value indicating a position of each portion within the payload; transmitting, by the first node, the plurality of data packets to a second node using a network connection for a transaction, each data packet including a header generated by the first node having the offset value and a payload size; receiving, by the first node, a message from the second node indicating an offset value of a missing payload of a missing data packet from among the plurality of data packets; and resending, by the first node, the missing data packet and any other data packet whose offset value occurs after the offset value of the missing payload.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for forwarding operations to bypass persistent memory. A modify operation, targeting an object, may be received at a persistent memory tier of a node. If a forwarding policy indicates that forwarding is not enabled for the modify operation and the target object, then the modify operation is executed through a persistent memory file system. If the forwarding policy indicates that forwarding is enabled for the modify operation and the target object, then the modify operation is forwarded to a file system tier as a forwarded operation for execution through a storage file system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for an interconnect layer send queue reservation system are provided. In one example, a method involves performing a transfer of data (e.g., an NVLog) from a storage system to a secondary storage system. A send queue having a fixed number of slots is maintained within an interconnect layer interposed between a file system and a Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) layer of the storage system. The interconnect layer implements an application programming interface (API) for the reservation system. A deadlock situation is avoided by, during a suspendable phase of a write transaction, making a reservation for slots within the send queue via the reservation system for the transfer of data. When the reservation is successful, the write transaction proceeds with a modify phase, during which the reservation is consumed and the interconnect layer is caused to perform an RDMA operation to carry out the transfer of data.

Abstract: Methods and systems for securing unstructured data are provided. One method includes generating, by a processor, a schema from unstructured data, the schema including one or more relationships between named entities of the unstructured data; identifying, by the processor, a plurality of semantic relationships between the named entities; determining, by the processor, a sensitive relationship from the plurality of semantic relationships; and anonymizing, by the processor, sensitive data associated with the sensitive relationship by replacing, a first portion of the sensitive data with generalized information.

Abstract: A system, method, and machine-readable storage medium for restoring a data object for a specified active time period are provided. In some embodiments, the method includes receiving, by a storage device from a client, a request specifying an active time period for a data object to remain stored on an accessible tier. The method also includes determining, by the storage device, that the active time period has elapsed. The method further includes responsive to a determination that the active time period has elapsed, sending, by the storage device, a request to a server storing the data object to move the data object from the accessible tier to an archive tier. Data objects that are stored on the accessible tier are accessible by the client, and data objects that are stored on the archive tier are inaccessible by the client.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for orphan object detection, invalid sequence number detection, and asynchronous object cleanup. A storage system may store data within one or more tiers of storage, such as a storage tier (e.g., solid state storage and disks maintained by the storage system), a remote object store (e.g., storage provided by a third party storage provider), and/or other storage tiers. Orphan objects, within the remote object store, that are no longer used by the storage system may be detected and/or deleted. When an aggregate of volumes is deleted, corresponding objects, within the remote object store, may be identified and/or deleted. Invalid sequence numbers (e.g., lost or corrupt sequence numbers locally maintained in a metafile) assigned to objects within the remote object store may be identified, deleted, and/or fixed.

Abstract: A method and system for co-locating journaling and data storage based on write requests. A write request that includes metadata and data is received from a client. A logical storage unit for storing the metadata and the data is identified. The logical storage unit is divided into a journal partition and a volume partition. The journal partition includes a first log and a second log. Which of the first log and the second log is an active log and which of the first log and the second log is an inactive log are identified. The metadata is recorded in a first location in the active log and the data is recorded in a second location in the active log during a single I/O operation. A reply is sent to the client after the metadata and the data are recorded in the journal partition.

Abstract: A system is described. The system includes a processing resource and a non-transitory computer-readable medium, coupled to the processing resource, having stored therein instructions that when executed by the processing resource cause the processing resource to collect telemetry data of a distributed storage system associated with a client device, monitor a first set of the IOPS values, select a first IOPS value in the first set of the IOPS values as a highest IOPS value, determine whether the first IOPS value is unequal to a current Max-IOPS parameter value and adjust the Max-IOPS parameter value to be equal to the first IOPS value upon a determination that the first IOPS value is unequal to the current Max-IOPS parameter value.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing additional compression for existing compressed data. Format information stored within a data block is evaluated to determine whether the data block is compressed or uncompressed. In response to the data block being compressed according to a first compression format, the data block is decompressed using the format information. The data block is compressed with one or more other data blocks to create compressed data having a second compression format different than the first compression format.
