Abstract: Provided is a compound of Formula I in which at least one moiety A, moiety B, moiety C, or moiety D is a 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, and at least one RA, RB, RC, or RD includes a group having Formula II where RX can be silyl, germyl, boryl, nitrile, F, CF3, cycloalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, or monocyclic heteroaryl. The compounds are useful as emitters in OLEDs providing improved efficiency.

In these structures, M is Pt or Pd; each of X1 to X6, X9 to X12, and Z1 to Z3 is C or N; each of L1, L2, L3, and L4 is a direct bond or a linker; at least three of L1, L2, L3, and L4 are present; each K1, K2, and K3 is a bond, O, or S; when Z1 is N, ring A in Formula I is not a pyridine or pyrazole; L5 is a bond or an organic linker; Y is selected from the group consisting of amino, alkoxy, aryloxy, or SiR1R2R3; when Y is SiR1R2R3, L2 is not BR. Devices, consumer products, and formulations containing these compounds are also disclosed.

Abstract: Imidazophenanthridine ligands and metal complexes are provided. The compounds exhibit improved stability through a linking substitution that links a nitrogen bonded carbon of an imidizole ring to a carbon on the adjacent fused aryl ring. The compounds may be used in OLEDs, particularly as emissive dopants in the emissive region in the OLEDs, providing devices with improved efficiency, stability, and manufacturing. In particular, the compounds provided herein may be used in blue devices having high efficiency.
