Abstract: User equipment (UE) provides machine type communications (MTC) through a narrowband (NB)-long term evolution (LTE) system having a downlink transmission bandwidth in a range from about 180 kilohertz (kHz) to about 200 kHz. Receive circuitry is configured to receive, through a downlink transmission of an evolved node B (eNB) in the NB-LTE system, an NB-physical synchronization channel (NB-PSCH), the NB-PSCH including a synchronization signal and having a channel structure, the synchronization signal including a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), and the channel structure defined by multiple subcarriers mutually spaced apart by about 15 kHz and located entirely within the downlink transmission bandwidth. Control circuitry configured to decode the synchronization signal.

Abstract: Systems and methods of early termination of uplink data transmissions for a UE are described. The UE transmits capacity information that indicates that the UE supports use of an ETS. The ETS indicates successful reception by the eNB of the uplink data prior to an end of a scheduled transmission period to transmit repeated instances of the data. The UE receives a schedule for repeated transmissions of the data that is based on a coverage level of the UE, and then transmits sets of one or more repetitions. After the transmission, the UE monitors a predetermined resource whether the ETS is present or whether the ETS indicates an ACK. If the ETS indicates successful reception, the UE terminates transmission of the remaining repetitions of the data and enters a sleep mode or transmits other uplink data.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses, systems, and methods using or implementing dynamic beamforming in control channels, by transmitting downlink control channels to user equipment (UEs) in a number of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of a downlink subframe. A first OFDM symbol of the number of OFDM symbols can be transmitted using first beamforming parameters in a first direction, and a second OFDM symbol of the number of OFDM symbols can be transmitted using second beamforming parameters different from the first beamforming parameters and in a second direction different from the first direction. The number of OFDM symbols used, as well as other parameters, can be dynamically adjusted in subsequent subframes. Other embodiments are described.

Abstract: A network device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), or a new radio NB (gNB)) can process or generate a configuration of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring in different search spaces sets independently from one another in order to manage different services optimally. A processor of the network device can be configured to receive physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates of a PDCCH in a slot for channel estimation across search spaces of the slot. Different priorities can be determined among the PDCCH candidates in the slot based on a priority rule. Then a number of PDCCH candidates can be skipped/dropped from monitoring based on the different priorities of the PDCCH candidates to ensure that a threshold level of blind decoding operations across a plurality of slots of the PDCCH is being satisfied. The UE can monitor a portion of the PDCCH candidates while concurrently skipping another.

Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure relate to resource mapping schemes. One embodiments is an apparatus including one or more processors coupled to a memory interface, and configure to encode a two part CSI that includes information bits of a first UCI type and information bits of a second UCI type. The First UCI type is a HARQ-ACK and the second the second UCI type is a SR. The encoded information bits of the first UCI type and the second UCI type are mapped onto a first physical resource. The first physical resource and a second physical resource are multiplexed in a TDM manner and the first physical resource precedes the second physical resource in a time domain. Information bits of the first and second UCI types are jointly encoded to respectively generate encoded HARQ-ACK bits and encoded SR bits. The two part CSI is output in a PUCCH.
