    Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to receive system information change notifications from an eNodeB is disclosed. The UE can receive one or more system information (SI) change notifications that indicate a change has occurred in one or more system information blocks (SIBs). The UE can receive a SIB1 that is associated with a value tag, and the SIB1 can include a bit-map that indicates which of the one or more SIBs include a change. The UE can compare the value tag associated with the SIB1 with a value tag stored at the UE. The UE can obtain scheduling information for the one or more SIBs that include a change according to the bitmap when the value tag associated with the SIB1 does not equal to the value tag stored at the UE. The UE can retrieve the SIBs that include a change using the scheduling information.

    Abstract: User equipment (UE) provides machine type communications (MTC) through a narrowband (NB)-long term evolution (LTE) system having a downlink transmission bandwidth in a range from about 180 kilohertz (kHz) to about 200 kHz. Receive circuitry is configured to receive, through a downlink transmission of an evolved node B (eNB) in the NB-LTE system, an NB-physical synchronization channel (NB-PSCH), the NB-PSCH including a synchronization signal and having a channel structure, the synchronization signal including a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), and the channel structure defined by multiple subcarriers mutually spaced apart by about 15 kHz and located entirely within the downlink transmission bandwidth. Control circuitry configured to decode the synchronization signal.

    Abstract: Described is an Evolved Node-B (eNB) comprising one or more processors to generate a first transmission for a first Cellular Internet-of-Things (CIoT) device and a second transmission for a second CIoT device. The first transmission may be generated for a first Narrowband (NB) channel, and the second transmission may be generated for a second NB channel. The first and second transmissions may include the same set of system information. Also described is a CIoT device comprising one or more processors to process a System Information (SI) transmission on one of a plurality of NB channels, and to process and extract information from a PSS and/or SSS transmission on a set of subcarriers corresponding to a set of frequency bands. The plurality of NB channels are within a wireless communication system bandwidth, and at least two of the plurality of NB channels correspond to portions of the wireless communication system bandwidth outside the set of frequency bands.
