Abstract: A system for assisting a user in listing items for sale in an electronic marketplace via an electronic marketplace application is disclosed. A product identification technique for assisting the user in listing of the item for sale in the electronic marketplace is determined based on initial user input provided by the user. A prompt to provide additional user input is then displayed to the user in the user interface of the electronic marketplace application, where the additional user data corresponds to the determined product identification technique for assisting the user. A listing for the item is generated based on the additional input provided by the user, and the listing is displayed to the user in the user interface of the electronic marketplace application.

Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting a test on a third-party testing platform are provided. A networked system causes presentation of a setup user interface to a third-party user, whereby the setup user interface includes a field for indicating an attribute of a publication to be tested. The networked system receives, via the setup user interface, an indication of the attribute, a subject to be tested, and one or more test parameters. The networked system applies the attribute change to a first version of the publication to generate a second version of the publication. The first version is presented to a first subset of potential users and the second version is presented to a second subset of potential users. Interactions with both the first version and the second version are monitored and analyzed to determine results of the test. The results are then presented to the third-party user.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable hardware to facilitate a diagnosis of a failure of a first part in a vehicle. The system receives a maintenance message, over a network at a network-based marketplace. The maintenance message includes characterization information received from a component in the vehicle. The component includes a sensor that senses the first part to generate the characterization information. The system identifies sub-system processing rules based on the maintenance message and executes the sub-system processing rules. The sub-system processing rules cause a smart component engine to perform operations comprising identifying a sub-system and scanning the sub-system responsive to identifying an increase in a likelihood of failure of the first part based on the characterization information. The first sub-system includes a plurality of parts and the scanning includes scanning the plurality of parts to retrieve characterization information from the plurality of parts to identify original equipment authentication information.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for a proactive customer support system are provided. In some example embodiments, outgoing communications from an application server to a client device are monitored for error messages, outgoing error messages are detected, an error type for an error message is determined, an issue ticket including the error message and the error type is generated, and instructions are transmitted that cause a customer service device to display the issue ticket. In some example embodiments, the system additionally assigns a priority score and ranks open error tickets based on their respective error messages. In some example embodiments, the system provides a help message to the client device based on the error message, receives an information request from the client device, determines a reply message based on the information request, and transmits instructions to the client device to display the reply message.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for providing customized-item-specific interfaces of items on extended interface devices in a search system. A plurality of items—each having an extended interface configuration that indicates customized-item-specific interface instructions for extended presentation of items on extended interface devices—are accessed at a primary interface device associated with a set of extended interface devices including a second-user extended interface device that supports a social mode.
