Abstract: An experimentation platform controls testing of features by an application server. Based on a user identifier, the experimentation platform determines which feature should be provided, and the application server provides the corresponding version of a user interface. If the user behavior data shows that using a tested feature results in an improvement, the tested feature will be adopted. To determine whether or not an improvement is observed, a statistically significant amount of data is gathered. The experimentation platform gathers data regarding user behavior for the feature versions and, in response, adjusts the frequency at which each version is served. Providing the proposed version to an increased percentage of users decreases the total number of page serves required to gather statistically significant data. The experimentation platform may provide an updated projected time to completion of testing based on the changed percentage of users receiving the proposed version.

Abstract: A network service or application can receive dietary goals or conditions for a user or group of users. The network can determine threshold dietary amounts that users can receive over a predetermined time period to satisfy the goals or conditions. The network can monitor user consumption over the predetermined time period by collecting data from heterogeneous data streams (e.g., data associated with different structures, data types, types of data store, sources, processing rates, etc.), processing the data, storing the data using a distributive processing framework, and exposing optimized views into the data to provide smart virtual shopping cart functionality. The network can evaluate user consumption and food items placed into a virtual shopping cart to determine whether purchasing the items satisfy the thresholds, and if not, issue warnings, provide recommendations for substitute food items, and/or take other appropriate actions.

Abstract: Systems and methods for passive social media contact engagement are provided. In example embodiments, a publication that represents an item available for purchase is identified. An item image for the publication is accessed. A profile image using the item image is generated. The profile image is assigned to an entity profile, corresponding to an entity associated with the publication, of a social networking service. The assignment of the profile image causes the profile image to be displayed to members of the social networking service in place of a member profile image.

Abstract: Top attributes of a product are identified from text content of an electronic document and are presented as visual depictions of the attributes. The attributes are identified and ranked based on the text content, such as whether the text content describes the attribute in a positive or negative manner. Top attributes are selected from the ranking and a visual depiction of the top attributes is identified. The visual depiction can be a universally recognized symbol or a custom image designated to an attribute. The visual depiction is superimposed on the text content associated with the attributes when the electronic document is presented at a display. In this way, top attributes for a product can be presented in a manner that condenses the relevant information provided by the electronic document into a format better suited for providing the information on small screens of mobile devices.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for identifying top attributes are presented. Text content from an electronic document describing a product is extracted. A plurality of attributes associated with the product are identified using the extracted text content. A descriptor word proximate to each of the plurality of attributes in the extracted text content is detected. A weight is assigned to each descriptor word proximate to each of the plurality of attributes. The plurality of attributes are ranked based on the weight of the descriptor word proximate to each of the plurality of attributes. A predetermined number of top ranked attributes from the plurality of attributes are caused to be presented. Further, an image associated with each of the top ranked attributes is determined, the image being designated as a visual representation of the corresponding top ranked attribute. The image is caused to be displayed in association with the product on a user interface.
