摘要： The present invention relates to applicators for delivering objects into a body cavity, having a pivotal finger grip tab to improve the ability of a user to maintain a secure grip on the applicator during use. Prior to use the tab can reside in a first position that is proximal the applicator outer surface. When a user is ready to insert the applicator into a body cavity, the tab is pivoted outwardly to a second position distal the applicator outer surface. The tab in its outwardly pivoted second position provides a surface for a user's finger and/or thumb to apply a force that is parallel to the length of the applicator instead of perpendicular (normal force) to the applicator. Thus minimizing the opportunity for applicator failure and resistance to material expulsion as a result of increased friction on the material itself or an optional expulsion member.

摘要： A suitable tampon with a tampon applicator for expelling the tampon to provide side-to-side coverage and inserting the tampon into a body cavity is provided. The tampon applicator has a tampon holder tube having interior and exterior surfaces, a longitudinal axis, a hollow portion and an expulsion end dimensioned for insertion into the body cavity. The tampon holder tube has a feature for separating and spreading a tampon apart during expulsion of the tampon. A plunger may also be telescopically and slidably mounted in the tampon holder tube distal to the expulsion end and adapted to directionally expel the tampon from the tampon holder tube when a user expels the tampon from the tampon holder tube.

摘要： A tampon applicator member can be made from a roll of sheet-like material. A flowable material is applied to one surface of the sheet-like material and is transformed into a solid polymeric layer. The coated material is separated into a plurality of applicator blanks. A first surface of each blank, corresponding to the first surface of the individual sheet-like web, has an uncoated portion adjacent a first side edge, parallel to the longitudinal axis, and a coated portion. An adhesive is applied to the uncoated portion of the first surface of a blank, and the blank is rolled to form a tubular member having a longitudinal seam. The seam has a first edge of the inner surface of the structural member superposed over and adhered to an uncoated opposite edge of the outer surface of the structural member.

摘要： The present invention improves the conventional tampon assembly, wholly and in parts including the tampon assembly for delivery of medicament with an absorbent body having an improved rounded front-end, improved single plunger and dual, telescopic plunger members both incorporating a dosage measurement scale for medicament dosage administration; further improves the hydrophilic body of the tampon, applicator housing and plungers, inserter devices, withdrawal string and any other movable parts operating independently or sychronously. Improvement incorporates medically well known indicators for example, litmus for measuring pH balance, of various shapes, sizes or color-spectrums applied to the tampon assembly, wholly or in parts as described above by means including such as, but not limited to, impregnation within, adherence to, coated with or otherwise applied as is reasonable to maintain the integrity and sufficiency of various indicators for purposes of testing internally or externally excreted biological fluid for detection and identification of bacterium concentration levels present in said biological fluids via corresponding indicator prognosis charts. Moreover, also included in the utility of indicator application in the manufacture are generally absorbent products that utilize the same or similar hydrophilic materials as those used in tampon manufacture such as, but not limited to, sanitary napkins, panty liners, incontinence diapers for babies and adults, bandages and the like, which also incorporates the same well known indicators.

摘要： A tampon having a protective finger sheath is disclosed along with a method of forming the tampon. The tampon is constructed from an absorbent having a first end and a second end. An L-shaped cover having a leg, a foot and a central longitudinal axis is aligned with the absorbent such that the foot is aligned adjacent to the second end of the absorbent. Both the absorbent and the cover are rolled or wound up along a central longitudinal axis of the absorbent-cover combination into a cylindrically shaped softwind which is compressed into an absorbent pledget. The absorbent pledget has a predetermined diameter, an insertion end and a trailing end, and a flexible sheath which extends outward from the trailing end. The flexible sheath is sized to receive a user's finger and prevent soiling of the finger during insertion of the absorbent pledget into a body cavity. The flexible sheath also enables the absorbent pledget to be removed from the body cavity in a clean and easy manner. The method of forming the tampon is also disclosed. The method includes forming an absorbent ribbon having a predetermined width. Positioning the absorbent ribbon over a cover such that a portion of the cover extends beyond the width of the absorbent ribbon. The absorbent ribbon and the cover are then cut to a desired length and both materials are rolled into a cylindrically shaped softwind. The softwind is then compressed into an absorbent pledget.
