摘要： A fish trap system comprising a support having a lower end and an upper end with a pivot pin therethrough. A fishing rod has a reel end with a reel couplable thereto and an eye end with a first eye coupled thereon with line extendable from the reel through the fist eye to a hook with bait. The fishing rod further having an aperture at its central extent for pivotally coupling to the pivot pin with an end aperture facing downwardly adjacent to the first edge. Also included is a trip rod having an interior end pivotally coupled to the lower end of the support and having an exterior end with a second eye in proximity to the first eye on the side thereof remote from the reel. The trip rod has a supplemental pin adjacent to the exterior end extending upwardly received in the end aperture of the fishing rod. A resilient member is provided in tension coupling the first end of the reel rod and the lower end of the support tending to urge the reel end of the rod downwardly.

摘要： A hook setting apparatus comprised of a post and a telescoping stake for mounting the apparatus on the shore of a lake, river or ocean. The hook setting apparatus is comprised of a trigger release mechanism having a bracket mounted on the post. A trigger release mechanism comprised of a pin and a trigger release lever are secured to a fishing line with the natural flexibility of a fishing pole holding a trigger pin in the trigger release lever. Slack in the fishing line is passed through the trigger release lever and extends beneath the body of water being fished. The trigger release mechanism relies on the natural flexibility of a fishing pole to apply to the force to set a hook. The trigger release lever releases the end of the pin allowing the fishing pole to snap sharply backward, applying considerable force to a fishing line to set a hook. An audible alarm may be mounted on the trigger release mechanism mounting bracket which is activated when the trigger release lever makes contact with a terminal completing a circuit. In a further embodiment, a line extension is added to the trigger release mechanism with an adjustable grip to hold the line when the hook setting apparatus is used on a boat. It maintains slack in the line between the grip and the triggering mechanism to prevent it from being prematurely released when trolling in a boat.

摘要： Disclosed is a fishing rod holder including a spring-loaded fishing rod mount that is pivotally attached to the top of a release mechanism housing, and a ground stake that extends downwardly from the housing. The release mechanism includes a trip rod that is slidably mounted in the housing and that is urged by spring force to move longitudinally from a cocked position in which a tip of the trip rod projects through an opening in the front wall of the housing, to a retraced position in which the trip rod tip is retracted within the opening. A lever arm extends laterally from the trip rod through a slot in a side wall of the housing and can be engaged in a vertical part of the slot to hold the trip rod in its cocked position. A flexible latch member extends from the rod mount and has a slip ring on its lower end for engaging the extended tip of the trip rod to retain the fishing rod mount, against spring force, in a generally horizontal position. The fishing line is diverted from the reel around the outer tip of the lever arm and back through the fishing rod, and tension in the line generated by a striking fish will cause the lever arm to be rotated beyond the grasp of the vertical slot which releases the trip rod from its cocked position, which in turn releases the slip ring which allows the mount to be forcefully swung to a raised position.

摘要： A fishing rod holder features an automatic hook setting mechanism which is adjustable over a wide range thereby making it suitable for use with both heavy and light tackle, and for stationary use or trolling. The fishing rod holder includes an elongated rod retainer which is pivotally coupled to a support member such as a ground engaging stake or the sidewall of a boat. The fishing rod is carried in a generally horizontal position on top of the rod retainer by a cup which receives the butt of the fishing rod and a guide bar which supports and confines an intermediate portion of the fishing rod. According to an important feature of the invention, the guide bar is spring biased for yieldably resisting downward movement relative to the rod retainer, thereby preventing the triggering mechanism from being actuated by the weight of the fishing rod. The rod retainer is held in a cocked position by a latch which is pivotally mounted on the support member. The latch is released by an elongated trigger arm which is attached on one end to the guide bar and which is movably coupled at its opposite end to the latch. The trigger arm includes a cam for movably engaging the latch, and has an intermediate portion which holds the cam in a vertically offset and transversely extended position with respect to the guide bar whereby downward movement of the guide bar, in response to a strike, is converted into rotation of the cam against the latch.
