Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing an SG in a mobile broadcasting system are provided. The apparatus and method include a terminal for receiving a first SG, for acquiring reception information about a second SG from the first SG, if a service fragment list extracted from the first SG includes information about at least one second SG different from the first SG, and for receiving the second SG based on the acquired reception information.
Abstract:
A method for receiving a broadcast service through a plurality of terminals in a mobile broadcasting system supporting the broadcast service is provided. The method includes sending a registration request message for requesting registration of each of a plurality of terminals from a server associated with a broadcast service, receiving a registration response message from the server in response to each registration request message, sending a service request message to the server through one terminal of the plurality of terminals to request that the broadcast service be provided to the remaining terminals, and receiving, by the remaining terminals, a service response message from the server and the broadcast service.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for providing a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system are provided. The method includes receiving a message comprising information relating to a broadcast channel which carries a service guide, from a Base Station (BS), receiving service guides relating to one or more service providers over the broadcast channel using the information, when the received service guides are fragmented service guides having a certain size, generating a unified service guide by reassembling the fragmented service guides and when one service provider is selected, filtering only a service guide of the selected service provider in the unified service guide and displaying the filtered service guide in a display. Thus, the channel transition time can be reduced.
Abstract:
A method for selecting a cell by a user equipment (UE) to receive a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) service in a mobile communication system which supports the MBMS service with different frequency allocations (FAs) in the same area. In the method, a radio network controller (RNC) transmits information on an MBMS cell to the UE, and the MBMS cell information includes an MBMS offset for guaranteeing priority for cell reselection to the MBMS cell. The UE performs cell reselection using the MBMS cell information and receives the MBMS service from the reselected cell.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and method for transmitting information for distinguishing between a packet data service in all of a plurality of frequency bands and a packet data service of a specific frequency band from a Radio Network Controller (RNC) to a User Equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system providing a plurality of packet data services through a plurality of frequency bands, the method including the steps of starting a packet data service which the UE has joined, and transmitting indicator information to said all frequency bands, the indicator information indicating if the packet data service can be provided in said all frequency bands.
Abstract:
A method is provided for performing handover by a terminal in a digital broadcasting system. The method includes measuring strength of a received signal from a serving broadcast transmitter while receiving a broadcast service, and comparing the measured strength of the received signal with a predetermined reference value; periodically measuring strength of the received signal while continuously receiving the broadcast service when the measured strength of the received signal is greater than the reference value; sending a handover start request message for the broadcasting system to a base station of a mobile communication system when the measured strength of the received signal is less than or equal to the reference value; and performing handover from the serving broadcast transmitter to a target broadcast transmitter upon receipt of an accept message for the handover start request for the broadcasting system from the base station.
Abstract:
An encoding method and apparatus for a DCH (Dedicated Channel) encoder and a DSCH (Downlink Shared Channel) encoder in a transmitter for a mobile communication system including the DCH encoder for encoding k bits among 10 input TFCI (Transport Format Combination Indicator) bits and the DSCH encoder for encoding remaining (10-k) bits among the input TFCI bits. The method comprises generating, by the DCH encoder, a first coded bit stream by encoding the k input bits into 32 bits, and outputting a (3k+1)-bit stream by puncturing the first coded bit stream according to a specific mask pattern corresponding to the k value; and generating, by the DSCH encoder, a second coded bit stream by encoding the (10-k) input bits into 32 bits, and outputting a {3*(10-k)+1}-bit stream by puncturing the second coded bit stream according to a specific mask pattern corresponding to the (10-k) value.
Abstract:
A cell reselection method by a user equipment (UE) receiving an MBMS service in a serving cell of a mobile communication system. The UE receives control data of the serving cell, including configuration information necessary for accessing MBMS control channels (MCCHs) of neighbor cells and control information necessary for accessing an MBMS data transport channel (MTCH) of the serving cell, over an MCCH of the serving cell, and stores the received control data, while the MBMS service is provided in the serving cell. If cell reselection to a target cell, which is one of the neighbor cells is determined, the UE moves to the target cell by utilizing configuration information stored for the target cell.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a DVB-H CBMS system by which a user can continue to view a program being in service even when the transport stream or IP platform changes while the user views the program. In the DVB-H CBMS system, the system transmits service mapping information according to transport streams or IP platforms to the terminal, so that the system can provide a service without interruption to the terminal even when a user of the terminal moves out of a current cell or network into a new cell or network while receiving a service that the user selected.
Abstract:
A method for enabling a user equipment (UE) to recover from a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) data error in a mobile communication system. The mobile communication system includes a radio network controller (RNC) and at least one cell for transmitting MBMS data to at least one UE according to a control operation of the RNC. The RNC transmits first control information to UEs located in each cell. Each of the UEs receives the first control information and the MBMS data. When an error in the received MBMS data is detected, the RNC is notified that an MBMS data reception error has occurred. Response information associated with the MBMS data reception error is transmitted from the UE to the RNC. The UE determines whether control information contained in the response information matches the first control information. The MBMS data reception error is recovered from, according to a result of the determination.
