    Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner has an air treatment chamber and a main body which houses a suction motor which has a motor axis of rotation which extends in a common direction with the central longitudinally extending axis. A pistol grip handle having an upper end that is provided on the main body, a lower end and a handle axis that extends centrally through the pistol grip handle from the lower end of the pistol grip handle to the upper end of the pistol grip handle wherein the handle axis intersects the suction motor. The hand vacuum cleaner has a front openable door, which comprises a front wall of the air treatment chamber. The front door is moveable between a closed position and an open position, wherein an air inlet conduit is moveable with the front door.

    Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner has an airflow path from an air inlet to a clean air outlet with an air treatment member and a fan and motor assembly in the air flow path. The hand vacuum cleaner has a cyclone chamber with a plate positioned at the front end of the cyclone chamber. A dirt collection chamber is external to and connected in flow communication with a cyclone chamber by a gap located between the plate and the sidewall of the cyclone chamber. The gap is located only at an upper portion of the plate and/or is larger at the upper portion of the plate.

    Abstract: A system comprising a vacuum cleaner and an apparatus for receiving dirt from a dirt collection region of the vacuum cleaner.
