    Abstract: A multiple push-on (MPO) optical connector is provided having a ferrule configured to house multiple optical fibers and a housing having a distal end in a connection direction configured to hold the ferrule. The housing further includes a pair of proximal apertures and at least one proximal groove. A backpost has a distal end that urges the ferrule toward the distal end of the housing and a proximal end configured to receive a crimp ring. The backpost includes a pair of proximally extending latch arms that reverse latch in the proximal apertures of the housing. To strengthen the connector in side-loading environments, the backpost further includes a reinforcing rib that is received in the housing proximal groove. In a further aspect, the proximal end of the backpost may include a neck with an approximately curved side profile that, following crimping with a stepped crimp ring, results in an angled crimp.

    Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a Network system including: a connector comprising a housing comprising a groove running widthwise on a surface of the housing; and a push-pull tab comprising a complementary groove, wherein the push-pull tab is detachably connected to the housing; and a receiver device comprising one or more ports for receiving the connector, the one or more ports having an interchangeable anchor device including a first portion and a second portion; wherein the groove is configured to receive the first portion of the interchangeable anchor device when the connector is inserted into the receiving element, and wherein the complimentary groove is configured to receive the second portion of the interchangeable anchor device when the connector is inserted into the receiving element, the push-pull tab being configured to disengage the second portion of the interchangeable anchor device from the complementary groove when the push-pull tab is moved in a direction away from the connector, thereby disengaging the first portion of the interchangeable anchor device from the grove of the connector.     Abstract: A cleaning device is provided for removing debris from an end surface of a fiber optic connector. The fiber optic connectors may be a Multi Push On (MPO) or Mechanical Transfer (MT). The end surface may have a one or more ferrules with a fiber optic glass cable. The cleaning device includes a housing with a first end open to a gel that adheres to debris. A second end of the housing may be releasably attached to a protrusion or handle to insert and remove the device from an adapter receptacle. The handle may be replaced with a plug frame and protrusion so the device may be inserted into the receptacle of the adapter. The device may be placed over the end surface of the fiber optic connector that is not inserted into an adapter receptacle.

    Abstract: A multi-fiber, fiber optic connector is interchangeable between a male connector and a female connector by including a pin retainer having a releasable retention device configured to lock the pins in place within the retainer. The retention device may be opened, for example, with a release tool, to free the retention pins for removal of the pins. A method for switching a connector between a male connector configuration and a female connector configuration may be possible as a result of the releasable retention configuration.

    Abstract: Switchable housings and connector assemblies for connections to high density panels are disclosed, as well as components thereof. A connector assembly may include cable assembly connectors configured to engage with a mating connector in a first direction. A latching portion may be configured to engage and selectively disengage the cable assembly connector with the mating connector. A switchable housing may contain release members configured to contact the latching portion and provide a compressing force sufficient to selectively disengage the cable assembly connector from the mating connector and a pull tab assembly in contact with the release members. Movement of the pull tab assembly in a second direction may cause the pull tab assembly to compress the one or more release members, thereby causing the one or more release members to provide the compressing force to disengage the cable assembly connector from the mating connector.

    Abstract: A hybrid optical fiber adapter comprises a first adapter end configured to receive a first optical fiber connector, and a second adapter end configured to receive a second optical fiber connector of a different type from the first optical fiber connector. The hybrid adapter further comprises a spring configured to couple to the second adapter end such that the second optical fiber connector received into the second adapter end is disposed between the spring and the second adapter end, so as to allow floating of the second optical fiber connector. In one embodiment, the first optical fiber connector is an LC connector and the second optical fiber connector is a micro connector. The hybrid adapter may be coupled to a module such that the second adapter end protrudes into the module, requiring less space inside the module compared to conventional hybrid adapters, without sacrificing optical performance.

    Abstract: Optical fiber connectors for MT/MPO type ferrule assemblies are disclosed, having an overall connector length less than about 32 mm, for example, an overall length of about 18.5 mm for non-reinforced optical fiber cables, and an overall length of about 23.5 mm for reinforced optical fiber cables. In one embodiment, a connector comprises a ferrule assembly, and a housing coupled to the ferrule assembly and configured to couple to an adapter corresponding to the ferrule assembly. The connector further includes a lock coupled to the housing and configured to rotate so as to lock and unlock the housing from said adapter. An interface member coupled to the housing may include a stop configured to limit rotation of the lock. The interface member may include a reinforcement portion for reinforcing optical fiber cables.
